Mobile Suit Gundam: The Island of Cruz Doan" will be released in early summer 2022! The story of Gundam and Amuro comes to life!

The 15th episode "The Island of Cruculus Doan" of "Mobile Suit Gundam," the milestone of Japanese robot animation and the origin of Gundam, was broadcast in 1979. Known as a masterpiece among fans, this episode drew the attention of fans with its depiction of the melancholy of war through the interaction between the main character, Amuro Ray, and Doan, a deserter from the hostile Zeon army.

It has now been announced that the story of Gundam and Amuro, along with the legendary episode that was never depicted in the film trilogy, will be made into a long-awaited movie, some 40 years after the theatrical release of "Mobile Suit Gundam III: Meguriai Uchu".

The film will be directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, character designer and animation director of the "Mobile Suit Gundam" TV series and creator of the hit "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin," which has sold more than 10 million copies. The film is currently in production and is scheduled to be released in early summer of 2022.

The film will feature the White Base crew and mobile suits familiar to Gundam fans. The story of the RX-78-02 Gundam and Amuro, revived on a grand scale, will return to the screen with a powerful mobile suit battle depicted in the latest animation!

The visual, drawn by director Yasuhiko himself, depicts the "RX-78-02 Gundam" and "Zaku" piloted by the main character, Amuro Ray, and shows Amuro's straight gaze toward the viewer. Amuro's straight gaze toward us is impressive.

The image of the Zaku looking down at the Gundam also creates a sense of urgency, foreshadowing the beginning of a quiet battle. What kind of message is contained in Amuro's eyes that seem to appeal to the audience?

In the footage released along with the movie, the RX-78-02 Gundam is depicted "standing on the ground," reminiscent of the famous scene in the movie.
The dignified figure of the massive fuselage shaking the earth and slowly rising to its feet is overwhelmingly powerful. The scene also shows Gun Perry, the transport plane, flying over the island where the story takes place.
What in the world happened on this island... It is a stunning image of the Gundam once again standing on the land.
