A new feature-length anime "Eternal 831" directed and written by Kenji Kamiyama will be broadcast on WOWOW Prime and distributed on WOWOW On Demand on January 30, 2022 (Sunday) at 8:00 pm. An official interview with M.A.O. has arrived before the broadcast and distribution.

This is a new feature-length anime directed by Kenji Kamiyama, an animation director and scriptwriter who has attracted worldwide attention for his "Ghost in the Shell S.A.C." and "Eden of the East" series, etc. It is being produced to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the opening of WOWOW.

An official interview with M.A.O. has just arrived ahead of the broadcast and distribution.
M.A.O. played the role of Nazuna Hashimoto, the main character in this work. She talks about the character of Nazuna Hashimoto and her image of her co-stars Souma Saito and Kazuyuki Okitsu.

M.A.O. says, "It's definitely worth seeing! What is the charm of this work?

Q, Do you have any image of the character "Nazuna" that changed during the recording from the image you originally had?
─ I had an image of Nazuna as having few emotional ups and downs and not having much of a will of her own. Even when her abilities are used against her, she just goes with the flow. But it seemed to me that Nazuna-chan's kindness allowed this to happen. During the recording, Director Kamiyama explained to me that since months had already passed since the past events, there was no pathos there, and I was able to understand it more deeply.

Q, How do you feel about a girl named Nazuna?
─ ─ She meets Suzushiro-kun, who has the same ability as her, and finds hope, but I felt that her heart is shaken because of Suzushiro-kun's involvement with the organization called 831 Front, where her brother is from.

Q, Souma Saito (Suzushirou) and Kazuyuki Okitsu (Seri, Nazuna's brother) played the main characters. Please tell us about the gap between your image of the two of you and your roles.
─ Suzushirou-kun has a strong "lost boy" image, but I thought Saito-san himself is a very solid person. Mr. Seri is intimidating and scary despite his love for his sister, but Mr. Okitsu is very friendly and soft, and is a mood-maker who creates a buzz on the set.

Q, What is your impression of Director Kenji Kamiyama?
──Many of Director Kamiyama's works have a sharp message that poses a question to the viewer, so I had an image of him as a "cool" person. But when I actually met him, he was very kind and directed me carefully down to the smallest detail.

Q, What are the highlights of "Eternal 831" that you would like to push?
─ The story of Suzushiro and Nazuna's "boys and girls" intersects with the "adult world" where they have experienced both the sweet and sour sides of life. I think the highlight of the film is how Suzushirou faces this "world" and the "consequences of his choices".

Q. So it is not just a story of boys and girls?
─ That's right. Suzushirou-kun, who is on the verge of becoming an adult, learns how society works and is questioned about what that means. This is a film that should be seen not only by young people but also by adults.

Q. This film also deals with social themes. What do you want to tell middle and high school students and the younger generation?
─ ─ "It is definitely worth seeing! I think it is a must-see. It is an opportunity to face society and yourself, and I think it is full of learning about the world and how to live in the future, which is a step toward becoming an adult.

Q, How do you want adults to see this film?
─ I would like you to discuss what you felt and thought after watching the film. I think there are many words that resonate with people of all ages, and I feel that through "Eternal 831," we can communicate with people of all ages about what we as adults should convey to young people.

Q, This is the last question, but if you could stop time, what would you do?
─ ─ If I could use it only for myself, I would stop time inside my house and read, with no internet connection (laughs). If it were outside the house, if I happened to come across a child running out into the street, I would stop time and protect them!
