A special program titled "Colorful Special Program: Songs That Will Give You Courage for Tomorrow" will be broadcast during the 72nd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen to be held on December 31, 2021.

In this special program titled "Colorful Special Program -Songs That Will Give You Courage for Tomorrow-," "Dragon Quest," "Demon Slayer," and "Evangelion" will be featured as representative Japanese video game and animation works.
In 2021, music from these three works that gave courage to the world will be delivered.

Dragon Quest," which has been popular as a national game for 35 years since its first release in 1986, became a hot topic this year when its "Overture" was played as the entrance march at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Composer Koichi Sugiyama, who composed the music for the entire series, passed away in September of this year, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, which has recorded and performed the music for the series for many years, will perform Dragon Quest music live at Kohaku.
