Neon Genesis GPX Cyber Formula World Tour Tokyo GP," an exhibition event tracing the history of "Neon Genesis GPX Cyber Formula," an anime series that marked the 30th anniversary of its TV broadcast, is currently being held.

Neon Genesis GPX Cyber Formula" is a TV anime that was broadcast in 1991.
It gained popularity by depicting the heated battles and dramas of racers based on "Cyber Formula," a fictional automobile racing sport in the near future. The series was followed by a series of OVAs, including "11," "ZERO," "SAGA," and "SIN," which depicted Hayato Kazami's battles and his growth from a boy to a young man.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the TV series, a fan-favorite exhibition of setting materials and precious original drawings from previous generations is being held from Friday, January 24, 2021 to Monday, January 10, 2022 (national holiday).


The highlight of the exhibition will be a total of more than 120 celuloid drawings, original drawings, and digital illustrations of the full-length films.


A large number of valuable celluloid pictures, setting drawings, and line drawings used in the original productions are on display.
In particular, the number of existing celluloid pictures from the time of broadcast is decreasing daily due to deterioration over time. This is why this exhibition, with such a large collection of celluloid pictures, can be considered a very premium event. In addition to the ones that remain at Sunrise, the celluloid paintings on display include those that were kept by people involved at the time, making this an unprecedentedly rich collection of celluloid paintings.

Also on display are original color design drawings by machine designer Shoji Kawamori, rough drafts and package illustrations by mechanical drawing director Satoshi Shigeta, and more. The powerful brush strokes that seem as if a machine could pop out at any moment are a sight to behold.


Rough drawings by Takahiro Yoshimatsu and Hirokazu Hisayuki, character designer and chief animation director, and original illustrations by Mutsumi Inomata, character designer, are also on display. The beautiful characters are a must-see.


A large number of design boards of the initial images drawn by Shoji Kawamori and other members of Studio Nue before the setting of "a fictional automobile race in the near future" was finalized are also on display. It is interesting to note that the early planning stages of the project were for a slapstick race, and that the cars were designed in a pop and comical manner, which is different from "Cyber Formula.


Other exhibits included scripts and magazines from the time. In particular, the large number of magazines with "Cyber Formula" on their covers shows how popular it was.

In addition, Kenichi Ono, who plays Asrada, will be on hand to navigate visitors through the venue. It was like being Hayato Kazami!


A life-size "Super Asrada AKF-11" (1/1 scale) will be on display as a photo spot!
