Urusei Yatsura" will be adapted to TV anime again in 2022! Hiroshi Kamiya as Ataru and Sumire Uesaka as Ram! Teaser visual and PV revealed!

Urusei Yatsura" is the brilliant debut work by Rumiko Takahashi. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Shogakukan, selected episodes of the original work will be adapted into a completely new TV anime series to be broadcast on Fuji Television Network's "Noitamina" and other channels over a four-cour period. The first season is scheduled to air in 2022.

In "Urusei Yatsura," Ataru Moroboshi, the "most evil" high school student on earth, and Rum, a beautiful "devil girl" who has come down from outer space, meet and everything begins with their encounter. Everything begins with their encounter. Fearless, in love, but somewhat sad... Ataru and Ram's boy-meets-girl relationship is colored by characters from all over the galaxy in this romantic comedy.

Directed by Hideya Takahashi and Yasuhiro Kimura, who worked on "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: The Golden Wind," with series composition by Yuko Kakihara of "Hataraku Cell," character design by Naoyuki Asano of "Osomatsu-san" and "Don't Mess with the Video Lab! Naoyuki Asano of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" series, and david production of "Flames of Fire" series are in charge of animation production. Hiroshi Kamiya and Sumire Uesaka will play the roles of the hero, Ataru Moroboshi, aka "Darling," and the heroine, Ram, a rare couple.

A teaser visual and a teaser PV have been released, as well as a link visual showing the characters played by each of them. The link visual shows Ataru and Kamiya holding hands and Ram and Uesaka jumping (i.e., flying) together, creating a link between the characters and the cast.

Q2: What attracts you to the character of Ataru, what do you value in playing the role, and what are you looking forward to?
I don't think there are many characters in the world who have such a good heart, both physically and mentally, like Ataru, who is scorched to black by Ram's blitz but returns to normal in the next panel. I love the frivolous and irresponsible Ataru played by Toshio Furukawa. I hope to create a new Ataru with that love and all the skills I have cultivated as a voice actor!

A supremely cute (and sometimes ferocious) demon girl. She follows Ataru and ends up living on Earth. People around her wonder "Why would such a cute girl want to be with Ataru? But Ram is single-minded to the end. According to her, the blitz is an expression of love.

It is a masterpiece that has been around since before I was born, but even watching it now, I feel again that it is cute, funny, sometimes sad, and has tremendous power.
When I was in high school, I watched the anime on a CS broadcast, which led me to collect the original work and Ram-chan figurines, and I was successfully hooked on the Urusei Yatsura world!

I think it is an anime that has broadened the scope of my defensive range, from a second-person character like the main character in previous anime, such as the main character in giant robot movies, to a third-person character like Ataru. The anime "Urusei Yatsura" was my debut as a voice actor. And Ram-chan is an ideal female image for me as well as for all the fans. Even though it has been over 40 years since it was first aired, it is still an irreplaceable work.
Looking back on it now, I realize once again that the reason I was able to go into the recording without stress or anxiety despite the fact that it was my debut work was because the top-notch staff and the veteran co-stars, who generously shared their advanced skills as voice actors, naturally pulled me up to the challenge, I am deeply grateful to them.
I have been told by staff members at work since some time ago, "I wish I could tell you what I am doing now, back then. I am very honored and proud. I am sure that Toshio Furukawa, who plays the role of my darling, must have had the same experience.
