The title of the new "Kingdom" movie is "Kingdom 2: To the Faraway Land," which will be released in the summer of 2022.

The manga "Kingdom" (Yasuhisa Hara/Shueisha), set in the Spring and Autumn Warring States Period of China in the B.C. Era, depicts on a grand scale a young boy, Nobu, a war orphan with a dream of becoming a great general, and a young king, Isei (later Qin Shi Huangdi), who aims to unify China, The series has been published up to now in 63 volumes. The total number of copies sold has reached over 84 million (as of December 2021).


The movie "Kingdom," which is one of the largest-scale Japanese films ever made, will be released on April 19, 2019. Its box-office revenue exceeded 5.73 billion yen, making it the No. 1 Japanese live-action film released in 2019, and it was also selected for numerous film awards.


More than a year has passed since the production of the sequel/part 2 was announced, encouraged by the enthusiasm of fans who wanted a sequel, and many voices were heard eagerly awaiting the sequel, such as "I can't wait to see the rest of the movie" and "What was depicted in the movie was only the beginning," and cast expectations were also excited. However, just as the project was about to be restarted, a new coronavirus broke out around the world.


Despite being forced to make major changes to the original production structure and being placed in an unprecedented environment, the production staff and cast were united in their unrelenting desire for a sequel, and the fire was never extinguished.
Filming began in June 2020 in Japan, China, and other countries in phases under a strict security alert, and was finally cranked up in October 2021. The film will be released in the summer of 2022, the year of Kingdom! Finally, a new challenge for the sequel has begun.


Directed by Shinsuke Sato, as in the previous film, the film reunites a splendid cast, including Kento Yamazaki as the main character Shin, Ryo Yoshizawa as Eisei, Kanna Hashimoto as Karyoten, and Takao Osawa as Ooki. The screenplay was written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa and Yasuhisa Hara, the author of the original story, following the previous film, with the addition of original scenes and lines from the film devised by the original author himself.
