Honda City transforms into a robot! Playing with Transformers MASTERPIECE Series "MP-53 Skids" & "MP-54 Reboost"! Part 1 [Taiyuki's Toys and Games Vol. 14

The most robot-loving voice actor in the voice acting industry, Yasuyuki, has been playing around with the latest toy toys and hobbies!

This time, it's been a long time since he's played with "Transformers". In addition, for the first time in this series, we will be introducing the MASTERPIECE (hereafter referred to as MP) series in two installments, one before and one after!

The "Transformers" series has been developed in various forms, including the "Earthrise" and "Studio Series," and the MP toy series can be called the pinnacle of the series!

The latest in the series is "Fight! Cybertron/Warrior Skids" and"Cybertron/Joto Keeper Re-Boost" from "Transformers: Super Robot Life Forms"! The two vehicles are both HONDA CITY type in vehicle mode, and have been commercialized at the same time!

Skids had few chances to appear in the anime, and "Fight! The booklet of the DVD box says that "Skids was destroyed in a flash without showing much action. However, he has an interesting episode in which he became famous because of his "few appearances.

Reboost is a newly created character. For a detailed profile, please check the character card included in the package! The character is actually a character that we have worked very hard to create.

The package photos are not just a copy of the original, but a well-designed version of each of the characters.

We have already mentioned "HONDA CITY type," but officially, Skids transforms into "HONDA CITY TURBO" and Reboost transforms into "HONDA CITYR." The back of the product is a small box with information about the characters and the product.

The back of the model is filled with information about the characters and the product.

The top surface has a high-end, familiar MP design.

On the sides are pictures of the vehicle mode and robot mode, respectively.

On the bottom, you can see the "HONDA" mark, which proves that the product has been officially licensed by Honda Motor Co.

Let's start with the skids.

Two types of weapons

The vehicle mode is so high quality that it could be mistaken for a miniature car toy. Even the windshield wipers and rearview mirrors, which are often omitted from transformable car toys, have been recreated.

The rear part looks like this. In the old toys, the rear part was split into left and right parts to form both legs, but this time there is no split line! What is this?

Every detail has been painted, including the lamps, logo, and HONDA emblem. The windshield wipers are also well sculpted.

The front grille has been properly designed to "City Turbo" specifications, and the Cybertron logo is printed in large letters on the hood. City fans will recognize that the wiper has been well reproduced.

The detailed paint scheme on the rear is also well reproduced. Speaking of the Citi, the "Honda" that was often seen on TV in the mid-1980s has been reproduced in this model! Honda! Honda! Honda! song on TV in the mid-1980s was very impressive.

The red and white lines on the side of the body, which were also on the old toy, are printed perfectly!

The lower side of the image is the old toy (Encore version).

Roof windows and other glass parts are reproduced as clear parts (blue).

The mirror surface of the rear-view mirror is painted silver.

The hood can be opened and closed. The details of the engine are reproduced inside. As you would expect from MP!

The left and right doors can also be opened and closed. The doors are an impressive part of the Skids after the transformation, so it's nice to see them move like this.

Unlike the Vinyltech series, the driver's seat is not sculpted, but there is enough space to accommodate a Diaclone member.

The rear door also opens and closes perfectly! It looks like you can store a lot of things in this space.

All of the included weapons can be stored inside.

The rearview mirror can be stored inside the hood, so you can recreate the old toy. Let's take a look at it in this state, side by side with the old toy.

The MP is a high reproduction of the real car as well as its size, and the "CITY" on the license plate is a nice touch.

I like the old toys too! They are so cute.

See the vertical line on the rear of the vehicle mode of the old toy on the right? The basic transformation of Skids is that this part splits into left and right to become both legs, but what kind of transformation will MP be able to perform?

The opening and closing gimmicks of each part! In fact, the opening and closing of all parts except for the hood were reproduced in the old toys! The old toys did a great job!

Let's take a look at the vehicle mode of the Reboost.

Here are the contents of the Riboost.

The warm red body is the exact opposite of the Skids. The basic body shape is the same as Skids' "City Turbo," but the hood and front grille have been changed to "City R" specifications.

The rear body shape is almost the same as the Skids, with the only difference being the "CITY R" lettering on the right side of the rear door.

The symmetrical look is very relaxing. It seems that some owners are still taking good care of their cars, and when I see them on the street, I can't help but to follow them with my eyes.

Clear black parts are used for the glass part.

The side of the body is quieter than that of Skids.

I brought "Diaclone Car Robot No.06 Honda City R (Silver)" for comparison. It has already been incorporated into Transformers under the name "Crosscut," and MP was also released as a Takara Tomy Mall exclusive (currently no longer available for reservation). The color is different, but the shape is the same, so I will use it for comparison.

The shape of the roof is the same as the Skids.

The inside of the hood is also well reproduced. The color of wiring etc. is different from Skids.

Doors open and close of course.

Rear doors also open.

The Skids introduced above may make you think, "What is that? Speaking of City, where's the motocompo?" Some of you may be thinking, "What about the moto-compo?" However, the moto-compo was omitted from the old toy Skids, so the MP version of the Skids also omitted the moto-compo.
However, this reboost comes with a moto-component.

This is one of the weapons, the "laser gun".

The grip and barrel can be folded down.

The laser gun is stored at the very back,

Next, store the double laser gauntlet,

Then you can store the double laser gauntlet and the rocket pod.

The rear doors will close securely.

And, the Honda City is also known for its moto-component storage. The storage for the motocompo. The moto-component is an important part of the reboost and is very small but well designed.

The motocompo can be completely transformed from this storage form to the bike form.

Lift up the seat.

Pull the handlebars out from under the lifted seat. Rotate the front half of the seat 180°.

Push the seat back into its original position and rotate the handlebars outward 90° respectively to complete the transformation of MotoCompo.

The word "MOTOCOMPO" is also printed on the side of the body, and although small, it is well reproduced.

This is the HOROMATER Avatar.

If you look closely, you can see it is a clear version of the spike that came with the MP10 Convoy Commander.

It was used to help the reboost survive.

The neck, shoulders, chest, and hip joints are ball jointed, giving the impression that it moves well for its size.

The knees can also bend about 90 degrees.

It can also sit on "Component X," or Moto Compo.

It may be a little cramped, but it is possible to ride in the city.

Here is a comparison of the vehicle mode reboost with the old toy. There was also an "H" mark on the front grille of the old version with a sticker. The license plate has been scraped off and is hard to see, but I wonder if it had "CITY" on it.

The "CITY" on the rear looks exactly the same! Amazing.

Both rear doors are designed to accommodate a moto-component.

So that's it for the first part!

In the second part, we will introduce the robot mode.

Please look forward to the second part!
