Details of PlayStation VR2, the next generation of VR for PS5, are revealed! Exclusive title "Horizon Call of the Mountain" also announced

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has officially named its next-generation virtual reality system for PS5 "PlayStation VR2" and its new VR controller "PlayStation VR2 Sense Controller". Product details were released.
In addition, "Horizon Call of the Mountain" is in production as a VR2 exclusive title.

Official name of next-generation VR for PS5 decided, product details released.

PlayStation VR2 will enable a major leap forward in VR gaming experiences by further improving the "sense of presence" (the feeling of being actually present in a game or other world) and allowing for deeper immersion into the game world than ever before.
Once the headset is put on and the new controller is in your hands, you will experience an unprecedented wealth of sensory experiences thanks to the game worlds created by world-class developers and the latest technology in PlayStation VR2.

In addition to PS5's innovative technology, PlayStation VR2 offers an experience worthy of the next generation of VR, with high-definition visuals, new sensor functions, advanced tracking performance, and the ability to connect to PS5 with a single cable.

■High-Definition Visual Expression
PlayStation VR2 delivers a high-quality visual experience with a 4K HDR display, a 110-degree field of view, and forbidden rendering (a method of rendering with higher resolution at the center of the player's field of view and lower resolution as the player moves out of the field of view).
The OLED display delivers 2000x2040 resolution per eye and smooth frame rates of 90/120Hz.

■Controller tracking with headset
Employing inside-out tracking, the VR headset tracks the player and controller through a camera mounted on the VR headset. The player's movements and the direction they are facing are reflected in the game without the need for a camera other than that of the main unit.

■New sensing features
PlayStation VR2 Sense technology combines eye tracking, headset feedback, 3D audio, and the innovative PlayStation VR2 Sense controller to create an incredibly deep immersive experience.

Headset feedback is a new feature that amplifies the sensations players receive from in-game action. For example, a character's pulse rate increases in tense situations, the impact of an object passing close to the character's head, or the propulsive force of a vehicle as the character speeds through the game world. The player can feel the world of the game even more realistically.
This new immersive experience is complemented by PS5's Tempest 3D audio technology, which brings the sounds around the player to life.

Eye Tracking
Eye tracking allows PlayStation VR2 to detect the player's eye movements and control game characters by simply looking in a specific direction. This makes the interaction between the player and the character more natural and intuitive, and takes realism to a new level in games, including heightened emotions and rich facial expressions.

This evolution of PlayStation VR2, coupled with the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, will allow players to feel and interact with games in a more intuitive way.

In addition, the controller is easy to set up so that players can enjoy the VR experience immediately by simply connecting a single cable to their PS5.
