Honda City transforms into a robot! Playing with Transformers MASTERPIECE Series "MP-53 Skids" & "MP-54 Reboost"! Part 2 [Taiyuki's Toys and Games Vol. 15

The most robot-loving voice actor in the world of voice acting, Yasuyuki, has been playing around with the latest toy toys and toys that interest him!

Continuing from the previous installment, this time we will be looking at the "Cybertron/Warrior Skids" and "Cybertron" from the MASTERPIECE series of "Transformers" toys!　Transformers" from the "Transformers" toy series, "Cybertron/Warrior Skids" and "Cybertron/Guardian of Castle City Re-Boost".

Here we go!　Let's try transforming!

This time, we will use Skids and Reboost, as the transformation procedure is exactly the same, so we will use Skids as an example to see how they transform.

Transform!

Open the hood, the left and right doors, and the rear doors, stow the rearview mirror, and close only the hood.

Lower the rear of the car.

Raise the part circled in red toward the top.

Lift the rear part of the body to the position shown on the right side of the photo.

Straighten the thigh part that was bent 90° and close the calf part to form both legs.

Starting from the left, pull the ankle blocks downward and expand the toes and heels. Then rotate the tire inward to complete the ankle.

Next, we move on to the deformation of the front part.

Pull out the arm parts that were stored behind the front bumper and expand them outward.

Once deployed, deploy the parts circled in red.

Fold the parts you just opened so that they cover the tires. On the tire side, there is a recess to catch the lock, and insert the protrusion of the cover part into it.

Deploy the arms and rotate the shoulders so that the inside surface of the tire with the red pattern faces forward.

Then, lower the arms. Just like a push-up.

While leaving the front part of the city intact, lower the entire body behind it and deform the armpit parts. Now the chest part is fixed.

Fold the rear doors, roof, and front windshield into a compact shape.

Here is the side view when fully folded.

The head, which is visible when the front window is folded back, is raised and rotated 180° to face the front.

Move the thighs outward.

This completes the transformation to robot mode!　To say the least, it looks much cooler than the Skids in the anime!　It changed the way I look at Skids.

Personally, I like the design that the impressive parts of the vehicle mode are still there in the robot mode.

I see that the calf part was designed to come with another part that has a molding like a rear door.

I would like to compare it with the old toy at the same time. I think the coloring is more refreshing in this MP version. The silhouette is almost the same. Interesting!

I would say that the head design of the MP version is more in line with the TV anime. The old toy is a bit different from the head design of the anime, so I guess the concept of MP was to sculpt the head with this head design.

It is interesting that the back looks very similar. Rather, this is the characteristic silhouette of the Skids.

As for the legs, we can see some parts that reproduce the old toy, such as the pattern on the thighs and the details on the toes.

There are also similarities in the white and red lines on the sides.

As you can see, in the old toy, the rear doors were directly on the calves, so in vehicle mode, there was a line dividing the car from left to right, which affected its style as a car. The MP, however, completely solves this problem. This attention to detail is wonderful.

Now, let's take a look at the range of motion.

The head can rotate laterally and can be turned upward by the benefit of deformation.

The arms can be raised to right above the ground either from forward rotation by rotation of the shoulder axis or by a horizontal arm raising motion.

The wrist can rotate at the base. The fingers, however, are surprisingly finely divided.

There is also a roll rotation axis on the second arm.

The elbows can be bent deeply.

Also, thanks to the deformation mechanism, the wrist can be snapped.

Twist rotation is possible at the waist.

The leg opening is sufficient if it can be done to this extent. The ankle swings laterally about this much.

The leg can be lifted forward about 90°.

The hip joints hardly move backward, but by using the deformable thighs, it is possible to create a pose in which the legs are lifted backward.

The knees can be bent approximately 90 degrees.

There is a roll rotation axis near the hip joint connection.

The ankle swings back and forth about this much.

If the entire figure can move like this, I think it is enough to enjoy posing as a deformable toy.

The weapons can be attached to either the front or outside of the arms using the rectangular joints on the forearms. Using the front joints, it looks as if the weapons are held in the hands.

Now let's try some poses with the skids holding weapons.

The old toy had similar weapons.

Kneeling on one knee and shooting with a low posture!

Action pose using the 3mm joint at the waist, using a commercially available display stand!

The face can be turned upward, so the pose is for an attack on Jetron, which comes at you from above!

And the robot mode of his partner in toys, Reboost.

Different body colors convey different characterization.

It is often said that "one color makes a character different from another," and perhaps it was only natural that the image of a character would change based on the image of its color.

In this article, as in the first part, we will introduce the "Diaclone Car Robot No. 06 Honda City R (Silver)" by comparing it with the "Diaclone Car Robot No. 06 Honda City R (Silver)".

The face is a mask type. Not only the color, but the robot's face is vital. A different face shape is a bigger change than a different body color.

Since this one is not a character that appeared in the anime, the shape seems to be a good reproduction of the old toy.

The Cybertronian mark is on the neck.

The body is red and passionate, but it also seems to have a calmness to it as it is a mask type face whose expression is hard to read.

The shape of the lower body is the same as that of the skids. The thighs are silver, the shins are red, and the toes are blue, which is quite heroic.

The casual, orange line at the waist is a fashionable point.

The silhouette of the back is the same as that of the "Honda City" model.

The shape of the back of the chest is also the same as that of the Skids. The calf cover parts have been painted to resemble a rear window, indicating that the rear doors were originally designed to be placed here.

The laser gun, a weapon that can be transformed into a stowed state.

The rocket pod with detachable warhead.

The rocket pod was also included in the Diaclone toy.

The reboost boldly attacks enemies on both sides of the body at the same time.

Aiming at the enemy with the body turned sideways!

High kick is also shown.

Smart and big jump.

A powerful pose with double laser gauntlets fixed on its arms!

The two warriors, both of them Honda City type, fight well together.

So, these two items should be picked up not only by Transformers fans but also by Honda City fans. The transformation procedure is not relatively difficult, so I would recommend it to those who are trying MP for the first time.

In particular, the reboost setting, which also has a new role for motocomposites, is something we encourage you to open the manual and read.

Transformers will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of its broadcast in Japan in a few years.

Items that we of the real-time generation have been eagerly awaiting, such as the Victory Saber available exclusively at the Takara Tomy Mall, are also in the works.
