⇒ PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS" will go to free-to-play service on January 12, 2022!
Starting today, January 12, "PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS" can be played for free on all platforms including PC and Console worldwide. With the arrival of the "BATTLEGROUNDS FOR ALL" era, the company will continue to enhance the gameplay experience for existing and new players through content updates and events.
This update includes significant improvements to tutorials, training mode, and other content for new players. Two new tutorial modes will be implemented to help new players quickly become familiar with the game and find enjoyment.
In the "Basic Training" mode, players can learn basic controls such as character operation, weapon fire, and how to revive stunned allies, while in the "AI Training Match" mode, players can experience a battle royale against 99 bots. In the "AI Training Match" mode, players can experience a battle royale against 99 bots and learn how to move in each phase.
About the AI Training Match
AI Training Match" can be used after playing "Basic Training" once, and new and returning players can play all other game modes by completing the two tutorial modes. Existing players may use this mode up to once.
For players who have completed all of the basic training and AI training matches, a lobby tutorial mission has also been added. These missions are designed to familiarize players with the game. The missions and their progress can be viewed on the event page, and players will be rewarded for completing each mission.
Each mission can only be completed and rewarded once per account.
Improved convenience and efficiency of the training mode
Instead of having to go directly to a specific location to pick up the desired gun, attachment, ammunition, etc., a new training helper function has been added. Through this function, up to 20 desired weapons and items can be called up anytime and anywhere.
In addition, an indoor shooting range has been implemented for target practice, allowing players to practice shooting to their heart's content without any interference. The range can be used like a private space even when multiple players enter at the same time, allowing for target distance adjustments, resets, score checks, and monitoring.
Existing players will be given "PLUS" status, which allows them to use ranked matches. A specially created "Free Play Service Transition Special Pack" will be offered.
Other updates include the implementation of new item categories such as tactical gear "drones" and "EMT gear," fainting balance adjustments, lobby UX/UI updates, and pin system improvements. Play Service pre-registration event rewards will be distributed.
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is a game that continues to be loved by people around the world, with sales increasing every quarter even into 2021, and has been selected as a top seller on the global game distribution platform Steam for five consecutive years based on total revenue," said KRAFTON CEO Kim Chang-han. We look forward to lowering the barrier to entry through our free-to-play service, enhancing the gameplay experience, and ultimately growing PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS IP into a more robust IP with a solid fandom.
