Easy, yet realistic! A diorama of the prehistoric age is recreated with the "Dinosaur Master 2" by EF Toys! Shokugan Road Vol.29

Hello everyone! This is Kariyasu☆, a hobby writer. In this corner, I will be reviewing, modifying, and playing around with the "Shokugan for Adults" theme. In this 29th issue, we will be looking at the "Dinosaur Master," which is currently on sale from Efty's. It was released the year before last and has become a hot topic!

The long-awaited second volume of the "Dinosaur Master," which was released the year before last and became a hot topic of conversation, is now available! While the previous model was a collection of bones (fossils), this new model allows you to collect dinosaurs in their living form, which have been restored based on the latest research. Collect all of the popular and dynamic dinosaurs and become a dinosaur master!

Inside the box is a random pre-painted dinosaur, and by fitting the parts, a realistic dinosaur is immediately completed! It's great that you can easily play with it without tools.

First, let us introduce you to all five types of dinosaurs!

Reptilia, Ornithischia, Iguanodontidae, Iguanodon genus

Reptilia, Ornithischia, Nodosauria, Borealopelta

Habitat:Early Cretaceous

Habitat (place of discovery): North America (Canada)

This 5.5-meter-long curved dragon was unearthed in a mummified state. Its name means "northern shield.

5: Tarbosaurus (with predator Saurolophus)

<Tarbosaurus

Reptilia, Reptilia, Tyrannosauridae, Tarbosaurus

The largest carnivorous dinosaur in Asia. Its name means "lizard that makes you afraid.

<Saurolophus

A gigantic platypus dragon, reaching 13 meters in length. Its name means "lizard with ridges.

Let's play with it as a diorama!

Although they are impressive even when displayed as they are, let's make a mini diorama of them!

There are many things that can be used as a base for a miniature diorama, but I often use canned meat or fish. Once the contents are well filled in the belly, clean the smell and oil thoroughly with a mild detergent. Once dry, cover the cut edges with tape to prevent cutting your fingers.

Paint the sides with black surfacer to hide the fact that it is a canning jar. This time, we used Kreos water-based surfacer. The paint film is a little weaker than that of lacquer-based surfacers, but the color is fine, and it is useful because it can be easily used indoors.

Fill in the dents in the top of the cans using 100-yen resin clay. If you just stick it on as it is, it will peel off after it dries, so be sure to use a bond to firmly adhere it.

Apply Tamiya Texture Paint Clay (brown) and let dry. There are other ways to reproduce the texture of the ground, but this is the easiest and most reliable!

Apply a dusting of CREOS weathering pastel (light brown) to create a gradient. Unlike paint, pastels (pigments) do not apply color, but rather fix the colored powder to the uneven surface, so they work best with rough textures!

In addition, weeds can be grown to make them more realistic. Some weed items for dioramas come in bundles from the start and can be easily glued together, but this time I used cheap weeds that you cut to the desired length yourself, and glued them together using an electrostatic generator (glass applicator) and bond! This machine is not cheap, but once you buy it, you can use it for a long time! If you want to actively build dioramas in the future, it might be a good idea to take the plunge and buy one.

Completed! The base is designed in the image of dry land, so it will not look out of place with any dinosaur!

If you make a general-purpose diorama base like this one yourself, you can play with a variety of figures and plastic models, from dinosaurs, animals, and character figures to tanks. Mini-size dioramas can be produced in a short time, so please give it a try!

So, how was it? I am curious to see which dinosaurs will be sculpted for the third series. See you again soon!
