The Akiba Research Institute Anime Awards 2021, which sums up the anime scene in 2021, began on January 31, 2022.

This project aims to determine the most interesting anime works among those broadcasted, distributed, and released in theaters in 2021.

A total of 25 titles were entered, including 20 titles ranked in the top 5 in the 2021 Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall Anime Popularity Polls, plus 5 titles chosen by the Akiba Research Institute editorial department.
