Heartwarming hell comedy "Chimimo" to start airing in July! Popular illustrator "Kanahei" × Shin-Ei Animation original TV animation

Popular illustrator Kanahei and Shin-Ei Animation have announced the production of an original TV animation "Chimimo".

This is a heartwarming hellish comedy that will blow away the world's harshness this summer!
Shin-Ei Animation, which also produces "Doraemon" and "Crayon Shinchan," and popular illustrator Kanahei, known for his "Pisuke and Usagi" and "Demon Slayer" collaboration stamps and many other cute illustrations, have teamed up for the first time to produce the TV animation "Chimimo" which will be broadcast and distributed in July 2022. Broadcasting and distribution is scheduled to begin in July 2022.

The first key visual and a comment from Kanahei, who drafted the characters, were also released. The visual depicts "Chimimo," a character with a rounded, rice cake-like form.

＜Introduction
Chimimomo" are 12 mysterious creatures that move around in a strange manner.
They are evil spirits of rivers and mountains that appear in the human world together with "Mr. Jigoku," a demon in the shape of a demon who calls himself an "emissary of hell.
The purpose of Chimimoto and Jigoku-san's visit was to turn the human world into "hell!
In order to carry out his plan to turn the human world into hell, he decided to stay at the Onigami family, where the three sisters, "Mutsumi," "Hazuki," and "Mei," live, while hiding his purpose.
The three sisters, Chimimomos, a mysterious colonized creature, and Mr. Hell, who looks scary but is a bit silly, are strong characters in this funny and heartwarming story of their daily lives. What will happen to the plan to make the human world hell?
The original character design for this work is by Kanahei, a very popular illustrator well known for his cute LINE stamps such as "Pisuke and Usagi" and the "Demon Slayer" collaboration, and the animation is by Shin-Ei Animation, which has produced many popular anime such as "Doraemon" and "Crayon Shinchan. The screenplay is by Kimiko Ueno of "Space Dandy," "Crayon Shin-chan the Movie" series, and "Carol & Tuesday.

■Kanahei's Comment
I often draw small animal characters, so when I was asked to be a character designer, I wasn't sure if I would be able to handle the job.
But when I heard about the plot, "An emissary from hell appears to the three sisters with 12 minions to turn the world into hell," I thought, "Oh, I love it! I love it! I want to draw it! I was so excited, and from then on, it became a fun job to give shape to the images that came into my head.
I was inspired by the simple form of Chimimo, who is cute both in groups and alone, the color scheme of the three sisters, which evokes a sense of connection, and the legend of Jigoku-san, who was born in my hometown, respectively.
I hope you are looking forward to the release of the film. (I am looking forward to it too...!)
