What are the men and women doing on the island? Problematic film "Believers" cuts to the heart of the cult! Summer 2022 release

Naoki Yamamoto, a charismatic and popular manga artist, has announced a live-action film adaptation of his controversial work "Believers" (published by Shogakukan), which delves into the world of cults.

Naoki Yamamoto is a charismatic and popular manga artist who has always been questioning the world with his cutting-edge works. The problematic work "Believers," which delves into the world of "cults" and exposes human desires, will unexpectedly be made into a live-action film! The film will open in theaters nationwide in the summer of 2022, including Theatre Shinjuku.

The film, which was said to be "unfeasible" due to its extreme content, was made by Hideo Josada, a craftsman director who has created more than 100 films and has an ardent fan base.

Josada himself, who won critical acclaim for "Alps Stand no Hashikata" in 2020 and has many other films scheduled for release in 2021, including "Ai ni Nanashina" starring Kouji Seto and "I Want to Be Killed by a High School Girl" starring Kei Tanaka, was eager to make a film of this work.

With the utmost respect for the worldview of Naoki Yamamoto, of whom he has been a fan for many years, Josada has created a one-of-a-kind visual world with entwining sensual beauty, dry humor, and violence.

The teaser visual is released! Who are the three mysterious people = "Operator," "Vice-Chairman," and "Chairman"⁉

Two men and a woman live on an isolated island. One of the men is an "operator," the woman is a "vice-chairperson," and the other man is a "chairman," and they wear matching T-shirts. Belonging to a religious organization called the "Smiling Life Center," the three of them live together on a deserted island called the "Isolated Island Program," pondering the day they will leave for their "safe haven."

They live on the edge with the occasional delivery of a little food, carrying out the mysterious commands sent to them by e-mail, such as morning meditation, reporting on last night's dreams, and experimenting with telepathy. All of this is part of their training to purify themselves of the impurities of the mundane world, such as sexual desire, excessive appetite, and greed, and to depart for a "safe haven.

However, the fight against hunger, the sudden appearance of intruders from the outside world, and the slightest crack in their lives gradually reveal ...... each other's instincts and desires.

The teaser visual, featuring the matching smiley face T-shirts worn by the three actors, offers a glimpse into their disturbing worldview. Who will play these faceless characters? We can hardly wait for the cast announcement.

Naoki Yamamoto and Hideo Josada, the director of the film, have also commented on the film!
Naoki Yamamoto, manga artist:
I am looking forward to seeing how director Josada has cooked up my original story.
I drew this manga more than 20 years ago, but I think it is a story that has not changed since then, as the problem of cults has been transformed into conspiracy theories on the Internet in the 21st century.
I can't wait to see it.

Director Hideo Josada:
Naoki Yamamoto's manga is the root of my own erotic expression, and it has been my dream for many years to make a film version of "Believers. Four years ago, I proposed the project on my own and wrote the screenplay in one fell swoop. After overcoming all sorts of hardships and difficulties, and with the help of a miraculous cast, I was finally able to make it a reality. This is a work of my best effort!
