Bubble" movie: characters by Ken Obata and Satoshi Kadowaki completed! Screenplay by Gen Urobuchi to be shown on May 13

Character visuals from the new animated film "Bubble," based on Ken Obata's original design, have been unveiled.

Bubble" is a large-scale original anime that is scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on May 13, 2022, and on NETFLIX for worldwide distribution from April 28, 2022. The film depicts a parkour team battle and a gravity-defying action love story in which a boy and a girl are drawn to each other.

The film will be officially entered in the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival. The original character design is by Ken Obata of "DEATH NOTE" fame, the director is Tetsuro Araki, who made his name with the action images in "Shinkage no Kyojin," and the script is by Gen Urobuchi of "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" fame. The film is produced by WIT STUDIO, a company that has earned the trust of animation fans, and features extremely beautiful, crystal-clear visuals and the kind of inexhaustible camera work that is the very essence of this studio, as well as a burst of high-speed battles.

The film takes place in Tokyo, where gravity has been broken by the bubbles that have rained down on the world. With its lifelines cut off, Tokyo has become a playground for some young people who have lost their families, and a battleground for parkour team battles as they run from building to building.
One day, Hibiki, an ace who had been attracting attention with his dangerous style of play, fell into the gravity-distorting ocean due to his uncontrolled play. Then suddenly Uta, a girl with mysterious powers, appears and saves Hibiki's life.
Then, only the two of them heard a special sound... Why did Uta appear before Hibiki? Their encounter leads to a truth that will change the world.

■Character visuals unveiled!
The character visuals have now been completed from the character design draft created by Takeshi Obata and by Satoshi Kadowaki, who is the chief animation director of this work. The images depict the characters with rich personalities against the background of the team colors of the "Parkour" team battlecourt, one of the important elements of this work.

As a member of WITSTUDIO, Satoshi Kadowaki was also the chief animation director for the "Shinkage no Kyojin" series. In this work as well, he vividly depicts the charm of each character, from their delicate facial expressions to their dynamic appearance.

Ken Obata commented on the process of creating the characters and the teamwork that went into their creation as follows.
I was given the opportunity to do the original character design. I was able to create the character design by mixing what remained from the initial image I had when I heard about the project and what I added and subtracted afterwards. Not only the Blue Blaze, but also other teams have their own motifs, and I am conscious of the team feeling. I would be happy if you could take a look at that as well."

Casting of each character
The cast includes Jun Shizon as Hibiki, the main character, and Alice Hirose as Makoto, the scientist who investigates the bubble. The cast also includes popular and talented voice actors such as Mamoru Miyano, Hiroki Kaji, Yu Hatanaka, Ayaka Sengoku, and Marina Inoue, who have played important characters in Araki's works.

In addition, Shinichiro Miki, who played Takumi Fujiwara, the main character in the "Initial D" series, and Roy Mustang in "FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST," will also appear!

Mamoru Miyano will play the role of Shin, everyone's trustworthy aniki. He plays the role of a judge in the battle race in which the Battlecool Team fights for life supplies. Kai, played by Hiroki Kaji, is the leader of the Blue Blaze (a.k.a. BB) team, to which Hibiki also belongs, and is a hot-blooded man with outstanding athleticism. He lost his family in the fallout and is in charge of ship maintenance under the influence of his father, who was the captain of the ship.

Ayaka Sembongi plays the role of Usagi, the youngest of the BBs and the team's cheerful and innocent mood maker. Yu Hatanaka plays the leader of Akihabara-based team "Denki Ninja," Marina Inoue is the leader of Odaiba-based team "Undertaker," and The leader of the Odaiba-based team "Undertaker" is played by Marina Inoue, and the leader of the Nerima-based team "Kanto Mad Lobster" is played by Shinichiro Miki.

★Hibiki (CV. Jun Shizon)
Hibiki is the ace of the Blue Blaze (a.k.a. BB), a battle-cool team based in Shibuya.
He has had special hearing since he was a child and does not like to communicate with others. He encounters Uta when he falls into the sea while playing.

Uta (CV. Unannounced)
A girl who suddenly appears in front of Hibiki and comes to live with her. She reacts to "sounds" that only Hibiki can hear. She is athletic and participates in Battle Cool, but her true identity is unknown.

Makoto (CV. Alice Hirose)
A female scientist who lives with Hibiki and the other BBs on their ship, Reyo, and investigates the phenomenon of bubbles falling in the no-occupancy zone. She is now integrated into BB's life in the role of big sister and takes care of Uta as well.

Shin (CV. Mamoru Miyano)
He is one of the few elders who respect the individuality of BB and the rest of the Battlecool team, and judges the battle races in which they compete for their living materials. He is a reliable mentor to the boys.

Kai (CV. Yuki Kaji)
The leader of BB.
He is a hot-blooded man who leads BB to victory with his outstanding athleticism. He lost his family in the foam fall phenomenon, and influenced by his father, who was a ship captain, he spends his spare time learning how to fly the ship and is in charge of ship maintenance.

Rabbit (CV: Ayaka Sengenki)
The youngest of the BBs, bright and innocent, she is the team's mood maker.
She is an indispensable member of the team, even though she can still be reckless in battle cool.

Electric Ninja Leader (CV. Tasuku Hatanaka)
Leader of the battlecool team "Denki Ninja" based in Akihabara.
He is always competing with BB to earn money through battles, but he is not hostile and sometimes supports them.

Undertaker Leader (CV. Marina Inoue)
The leader of the battlecool team "Undertaker" based in Odaiba.
They have a powerful sponsor and use battle-specific high-performance boots to intimidate Hibiki and her team.

Kanto Mad Lobster Leader (CV: Shinichiro Miki)
The leader of the Nerima-based battlecool team "Kanto Mad Lobster.
He is a single-minded man who is rough in character and behavior, but is compassionate and quick to respond to crises involving the enemy team.
