Uncharted" movie gets off to a No. 1 start in the U.S. & Japan! The popular action adventure that won an Academy Award in the video game industry

Uncharted," the movie based on the popular video game, has started No. 1 in the U.S. and No. 1 in Japan for foreign films.

The "Uncharted" action-adventure game series, in which treasure hunter Nathan Drake unravels the mysteries of legendary treasures and ancient cities, has sold more than 41.7 million copies since the first installment was released in 2007, and in 2009 won the "AIAS Game of the Year" award, also known as the Academy Award in the video game industry. The classic game that boasts worldwide popularity has been adapted into a live-action film starring Tom Holland of "Spider-Man: No Way Home," which opened in 4,275 U.S. theaters on Friday, February 18, 2022, and grossed $44.155 million (approximately 5.1 billion yen) over the three-day weekend (February 18-20). It became the No. 1 box office hit in the U.S.

In addition to the U.S., the film has been released in 62 markets overseas, including 47 markets that opened this weekend, and the total overseas box office is $88 million. The total worldwide box-office revenue has already surpassed $139 million (approximately 16 billion yen).


The film opened in Japan on February 18 (Fri.), recording 85,762 moviegoers and 128,372,500 yen in box-office revenue over the two-day period on Saturday and Sunday. It opened at No. 3 on the weekend, making it the No. 1 foreign film in Japan.
(Cumulative attendance for the three days from the opening day was 120,129, and cumulative box-office revenue was 177,042,400 yen.)


The film is a must-see in theaters to experience the "battle for the 5 billion dollar treasure" hidden in a "place not on any map" 500 years ago!

<STORY> "UNCHARTED
UNCHARTED" means "a place not on the map" in Japanese. The treasure worth 5 billion dollars is said to lie there. Can young treasure hunters Nate (Tom Holland) and Sully (Mark Wahlberg) find the treasure by relying on clues left behind by Nate's missing brother Sam and Magellan's nautical charts?
