26th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize "Manga Grand Prize," 9 finalists including "Monster No. 8" and "[Pushy Child]".
The 26th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award, sponsored by the Asahi Shimbun, has announced the nine finalists for the "Manga Grand Prize.
The Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award was established in 1997 by the Asahi Shimbun to commemorate the achievements of Osamu Tezuka, who played a major role in the development and improvement of Japanese manga culture, and to contribute to the healthy development of manga culture by following in his footsteps. In addition to the "Manga Grand Prize," which is awarded to the most outstanding work of the year, there are also the "Shinsei Prize," "Short Story Prize," and "Special Prize," and a statue of Astro Boy (created by Hiroshi Yokoyama) and prize money are awarded.
The "Manga Grand Prize" has been awarded to many works that have been made into films, including Satoru Noda's "Golden Kamui," Fumi Yoshinaga's "Ooku" and Naoki Urasawa's "MONSTER.
The following 9 works were nominated as finalists for the "Manga Grand Prize," which is awarded to the best work of the 26th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award. Currently in first place with the most total votes is "Chi. -About the Earth's Movement".

*The selections were made based on votes by seven outside selection committee members, recommendations by booksellers and manga-related people, and general recommendations by readers.
◆The 26th Selection Committee
Selection committee members are: Osamu Akimoto (manga artist), Machiko Satonaka (manga artist), Minami Takahashi (TV personality), Shohei Nakajo (professor of French-speaking culture at Gakushuin University), Yukiko Tomiyama (writer and lecturer at Tohoku University of Art & Design), Nobunaga Minami (manga commentator), Taro Yabe (comedian and manga artist) The seven members of the panel are: Kakuta Katsu (director in charge of content, digital policy and editorial) and Kita Katsunao (head of the Culture and Life News Department at the Tokyo Head Office), both of whom are newly appointed.

Voters will be able to predict which of the nominated works will win the "Manga Grand Prize". 50 winners will be selected by drawing from those who vote for the winner of the "Manga Grand Prize" and will receive a commemorative pin badge commemorating the 26th Manga Grand Prize.
Voting is through the entry site (# ) and closes on Thursday, March 31.
The winners will be announced in late June when the prizes are sent out.
