PlayStation VR2 next-generation VR system for PS5 & PlayStation VR2 Sense Controller, design premiere!

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has released final design images of the PlayStationVR2 (PS VR2) next-generation VR system for the PlayStationR5 (PS5) and the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller.

The PS VR2 headset features an orb-shaped design that matches the PS VR2 Sense controller. The rounded shape will represent the 360-degree view that players will feel when they enter the virtual reality world.

This design was also inspired by the product design of the PS5 product line, and since the PS5 was designed, the headset design of the next-generation VR system was already in mind, and from the visual to the feel of the design, the features shared with the PS5 can be felt.

While the PS5 is flat and designed to be placed on a flat surface, the PS VR2 headset has a rounded design that is consistent with the DualSense wireless controller and PULSE 3D wireless headset, as it is always intended to be picked up and touched. The design is designed to feel consistent with the DualSense wireless controller and the PULSE 3D wireless headset.

The PS VR2 headset and PS VR2Sense controller are designed to be stylish enough to blend in with the living room, but also to allow users to immerse themselves in the game world without being aware that they are using it. To achieve this, ergonomic design was emphasized and tested to ensure that people with various head sizes can use it comfortably.
The weight balance of the headset and the structure that secures it to the head with only one band, both of which were well-received in the current PlayStation VR, have been retained in the PS VR2.

The scope adjustment button for adjusting the distance between the headset's scope and face, and the stereo headphone jack are also positioned in the same way so that PS VR users can use the headset without any discomfort.

For even greater comfort, the PS VR2 headset features a lens adjustment dial that allows the distance between the lenses of both eyes to be adjusted to the distance between the player's eyes. This allows each player to enjoy an optimal visual experience tailored to their individual needs.

The headset is also slightly lighter, thanks to a sleeker design, despite the addition of unique new features, such as a motor for vibrating the headset.

To help users enjoy a comfortable feel, the small shapes (△0x□□) featured in the design of the PS5 console and DualSense wireless controller are also used on the front and back of the PS VR2 headset's band.

To deliver a VR experience that is a big leap forward, PS VR2 features a 4K HDR display, high-definition visuals with graphic rendering technology, improved tracking including inside-out tracking and headset feedback, PlayStation VR2 Sense technology, and the amazingly deep immersion created by the new, intuitive PS VR2 Sense controller. In addition, PS VR2 can be easily connected with a single cable for simple setup, allowing users to experience VR titles immediately.

Please wait for future announcements on titles to be released by software makers.

Comment from Arito Morisawa, Senior Art Director, SIE Design Center
When we started working on the design of PlayStation VR2, our first focus was on a design with high ventilation efficiency, similar to what we achieved with PS5. The final design included a small space between the top and front of the scope to provide effective ventilation. In the process of coming up with this design, we conducted numerous user tests and produced many designs and prototypes. We are extremely pleased with how the design turned out and hope that PlayStation fans feel the same way. We can't wait for you to hold it in your hands."
