Akiba Research Institute's official voting project "Which song is your favorite? 2022 Winter Anime OP Theme Popularity Poll" started on February 25, 2022. The deadline for voting is March 11.
The second half of the new anime broadcasts for the winter season of 2022 is finally underway. You must be getting used to hearing the theme songs that color the OPs of each work.
Akiba Research Institute has started its annual official project, "Which song is your favorite? There were 44 OP theme songs entered in the poll.
This season's OP themes seem to have a good balance of songs that have the so-called "anime song" style and those that are more girl pop or rock.
The first song that attracted attention due to the change in artists from previous series was "Zankyo Sanka" sung by Aimer in the "Demon Slayer" Youkaku-hen.
This time, she sang "Zankyo Sanka," a gorgeous and modern Japanese song befitting the main character Uzumasa Tengen, a complete change from the boyish conflicts and passion of LiSA's OP, and it won the hearts of Kimetsu fans. His appearance on a music program also drew a great response.
Next was "The Rumbling" from "Shinkage no Kyojin" The Final Season Part 2, sung by SiM, who also sang the theme song for "Yakuza Kyoku 2." The song was a profound mix of royal Western music and punk. The song has been well received overseas, reaching No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard charts.
In addition to the battle-worthy OP theme, there are also a number of refreshing pop songs.
Hikaru toki" by Yotei Bungaku dares to sing "The Tale of the Heike," which depicts the harsh fate of the Heike Clan, with a hopeful brightness. Nariko Azuki's "Shiranakatta" is perfect for the "hard-working girls" in "Hakozume: Koban Joshi no Gyakusyuu" and is sure to make you feel positive.
In addition, don't miss "Hajimari no Setsuna" sung by Manatsu Murakami and 16 other members of the cast (1st and 3rd graders of Ligoume Gakuen Junior High School) in "Asa-chan no Sailor Fuku" and "Lost Princess" by M・A・O and other voice actors from "Princess Connect! Re:Dive Season 2" and "Lost Princess" by M.A.O. and others.
