Speaking at the announcement were Mr. Taiyo Tanabe, Secretary General of Nikkei BP Tokyo Game Show, Inc. and Mr. Shinri Endo, Secretary General of Nikkei BP Tokyo Game Show, Inc.
In their presentation, both revealed the outline of the "Tokyo Game Show 2022" (abbreviated name: TGS2022).

TGS2022 will be held for four days from September 15 (Thu.) to 18 (Sun.), 2022, with Business Days on September 15 (Thu.) and 16 (Fri.) and General Public Days on September 17 (Sat.) and 18 (Sun.) at Makuhari Messe (Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture). However, on the second Business Day, Friday the 16th, general visitors will be allowed to enter from 14:00. In addition, the latest information on the game industry will be disseminated in a variety of ways during the show, including online projects.

The theme for TGS2022 will be "Games Never Stop. has been decided. In the past two years, games have always lit up our daily lives while various pleasures have been taken away from us. The theme of the exhibition was chosen to express the strong determination that games will continue to brighten people's lives in the future.

In order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, the Tokyo Game Show was held completely online the year before last, and last year it was a hybrid event with an online venue and a real venue for the press and influencers. This will be the first time in three years that a real venue will be set up for business professionals and general visitors.

The official program, which has received more than 30 million total views for two consecutive years since TGS2020 ONLINE the year before last, will also continue to be held. For overseas game fans, English simultaneous interpretation versions of most official programs (with a few exceptions) will be available again this year, and the popular free trial version of the latest games at home, online experience tours, and VR venues are also planned.
By continuing to distribute official programs in addition to the revival of real venues, Tokyo Game Show 2022 aims to be an evolved hybrid event.

In addition, there will be a special venue for Steam, a PC game platform whose users are increasing year by year.

For business negotiations, a dedicated business negotiation platform has been created for TGS2022. The platform will support the businesses of all exhibitors by providing opportunities to conduct business meetings at any location, including "real x real," "real x online," and "online x online. In addition, the company plans to provide entry support to Japan once the waterfront measures against the new coronavirus infection are eased, although restrictions on travel to Japan from overseas are still in place.

At the real venue (Makuhari Messe), tickets will be sold with a cap on the number of visitors in accordance with the policies and measures set by the government and local governments to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. In addition, due to the uncertain vaccination status of young people, for safety reasons, elementary school students and younger will not be allowed to enter the Tokyo Game Show 2022.
Ticket information will be announced around July.
