Vol. 49 MODEROID "Brodia

Well, this time, no, this time we will introduce the "BX-02 Brodia" from Good Smile Company's plastic kit series "MODEROID," which again has a surprising lineup.

Brodia is the main character machine in the 2D fighting game "Cyberbots - Full Metal Madness" released by Capcom in April 1995, and its pilot is Jin Saotome.
It is the next mainstay general-purpose variant armor (V.A.) and has several derivatives. One of them will be released after the Brodia and will be the B. Raiat introduced in the previous issue.
Let's take a closer look at the kit of this aircraft, which probably every player will touch at least once.

The package depicts two V.A.'s engaged in battle in an urban area and fleeing civilians, giving an idea of the size of the aircraft.

On the back is a completed sample and an introduction to the various gimmicks.

On both sides are line drawings of Brodia.

The top and bottom surfaces are as shown, and as usual, the design is kind to stores, allowing the product to be displayed in any orientation.

The instruction manual is also in full color and easy to read as you can see!

The number of parts is not too many, nor too few, for ease of assembly. The face parts are pre-painted, and there are no stickers for color separation!

Therefore, it is easy to assemble and can be completed in about 2 to 3 hours.

The shape and equipment of the forearms are slightly different on the left and right sides.

There are two propellant tanks in the backpack. It looks like it has a long active life.

With the "floating arm" extending from the backpack, you can reproduce the floating state of the "assault satellite," which is also the characteristic equipment of this aircraft.

The body has an appealing, martial design. The parts that correspond to the eyes of the face parts are painted in metallic blue. The bumper-like parts have a cool military look to them.

The spikes on the knees are also cool. The length of the legs is also balanced with a sense of massiveness.

The back side of the assault satellite, which can hardly be seen in the game, has also been meticulously detailed. I wondered how the "floating" effect would be expressed, but now I see that it is possible to create the atmosphere of the game without having to prepare a separate stand.

The details of the backpack are also quite detailed! The diameter of the shaft hole in the center was perfect for "THE Simple Stand.

The heel has a wheel part detail. They are fixed in the kit, but it would be cool to see him dash around on these wheels in the game.

The ruffled parts of the shield gun are color-coded by dividing the parts.

As the name suggests, the shield gun also has an aspect as a shooting armament.

The arm to which the shield is connected has three shaft holes, one behind the elbow and one on each side, allowing you to change the shield connection position according to your pose.

The opposite arm is equipped with a Gatling rod. The working state can be reproduced by replacing it. The photo will be taken later.

The head is connected by a ball joint. It can be tilted forward, backward, left, right, and sideways. 360° rotation is not possible.

Shoulder connection on the body side, swing up and down.

Shoulder armor and arms are connected to an axis extending from the body, so they can rotate 360° up and down.

The arms can be lifted up to about 90° horizontally by using the vertical swing on the body side.

Roll rotation with the upper arm. Elbow bends approximately 90°.

Wrist is connected with a ball joint.

Chest can be flexed forward.

Waist is connected by a shaft connection and can rotate.

Legs can be opened forward and backward as shown. Skirt armor is bounced up so that it does not interfere with the movement.

The left and right leg openings are also shown. The hip joints can be moved very flexibly with a combination of axial connections.

Roll rotation on the thighs.

Knees are double-jointed and movable about 90°. Internal mechanisms are exposed under the knee armor.

Ankles are first movable up and down at the toes. The base of the ankle is also movable up and down.

In addition, the ankles can be pulled downwards, swing to the left or right, and rotate.

The arm for floating has a rotating axis at the backpack connection and satellite connection, and the arm can be bent in three places.

The propellant tank has a ball joint connection. It can be rotated, and as you can see, it can also be lifted up in a big way.

From here, the figure you have seen before is reproduced in three dimensions! First, choose an aircraft!

The Assault Satellite can also be displayed separately from the main Brodia unit by connecting it to "THE Simple Stand.

Speaking of a name synonymous with Capcom's fighting games!　Can you see some kind of wave motion in his hands?

Both arms can be removed from the shoulders, swapped left and right, and re-equipped with ......

You can completely reconfigure it for "2P MODE".

Here is the "2P Mode" with both arms swapped.

In reality, this is what happens when you are playing as 1P and your standing position is reversed, but we call it "2P mode" to give you a better idea of what it looks like.

This is not a left-right reversal of the previous photo!

In this mode, you can recreate the pose shown in the opening screen when introducing the aircraft specs!

Next, let's take a look at the "extra touches" that are a regular feature of this corner!

It's not hard to imagine from the package illustration that the fuselages are crashing into each other, so I decided to apply a "dry brush with silver" to easily express the peeling paint.

There you have it!　Doesn't it have a metallic look that makes you believe for a moment that it is a metallic version!

I have been using Gaianotes "Gilding Wax Silver" for dry brushing. After applying "matte clear" to all parts, I put a little wax on a flat brush, wipe it off with a tissue until the brush is just barely dry, and then apply the brush to the body. It is more like rubbing the brush against the corners of the parts and rubbing the remaining silver on the brush.

I did not apply any paint other than the dry brush.

The effect of dry brushing with silver is great for dark metallic colors such as the backpack.

In addition to the edges of the parts, you can also drybrush the parts that you can imagine will be bumped around a lot, to give the parts a used look.

At first, it is easy to apply it to areas that will be highlighted in the light, such as the spikes on the shoulder armor and the corners of the body.
