Beautiful! Powerful! A collection of Aoshima Cultural Materials Company's treasured box art that is truly "soul-stirring"! Report on the "Legendary God Ideon Aoshima Box Art Exhibition!

The "Densetsu Kyojin Ideon" plastic model series was released by Aoshima Bunka Kyozai-sha between 1980 and 1982. The "Densetsu Kyojin Ideon Aoshima Box Art Exhibition" is currently being held from March 10 to 21, 2022.

The scale model line of anime characters started with Bandai's "Mobile Suit Gundam" plastic models. Aoshima Bunka Kyozai's "Densetsu Kyojin Ideon" plastic model series, which follows in the same vein, has become a hit, with almost all of the main mecha appearing in the series being made into kits.

In addition to the kits, the box art with its realistic touch was also highly evaluated, leaving a strong impression on plastic model fans at the time.

About 40 years have passed since the first plastic model series appeared, and the "Densetsu Kyojin Ideon Aoshima Box Art Exhibition" is now underway, offering an opportunity to view the box art that has been stored at Aoshima Bunka Kyozai Co.

Here are some photos of the exhibition.

The first thing that greeted me as I entered the exhibition hall was the "Pocket Power Series No. 7 Densetsu Kyojin Ideon"! The capsule popped out of the Ideon and various things came out of it, which in a sense was an odd plastic model, but I was impressed that the exhibition started with it!

This is part of the plastic model culture of the 1980s!

Moving on to the next exhibit, there were box arts of scale kits!

Not only Earth-side mecha, but also a large amount of box art of the Buff Clan's heavy mobile mecha were on display. The impressive array of artwork is a sight to behold.

What was surprising was that although there were a few stains and age-related dirt, the box art was basically displayed in very clean condition. This shows how well they have been preserved.

The wrapping paper that you get when you buy a plastic model at a model shop is also on display! This must be very rare.

Layout paper for plastic model packages and instruction manuals is also on display.

It is easy to imagine how they must have given instructions to designers.

Catalogs and pamphlets from the period are also on display.

This shows the excitement of the "Ideon" plastic models of that time.

Examples of works by popular modelers are also on display.

As you can see, you can enjoy nostalgic "Ideon" plastic models in this exhibition, but that's not all!

The prototype of the ACKS series "1/450 Densetsu Kyojin Ideon," which is currently under development, was also on display.

Original goods and catalogs were sold at the merchandising corner. This is a must-have item!

This exhibition is a must-see, where you can see the box art, which reaffirms the appeal of the unique mechanics of "Ideon the Legendary Giant" in large format and up close!

Don't miss it!
