Mr. Children sings the theme song for "Kingdom 2: Harukanaru Daichi E"!

The release date of the movie "Kingdom 2: To the Faraway Land" has been set for July 15. Information on the theme song and the latest video have arrived.

Set in the Spring and Autumn Warring States Period of China, "Kingdom" (written by Yasuhisa Hara) depicts on a grand scale a young boy, Nobu, a war orphan with a dream of becoming a great general, and a young king, Isei (later Qin Shi Huangdi), who aims to unify China, selected for numerous film awards.

The movie "Kingdom 2: To the Faraway Land", which depicts the battle on the Snake Gan Plain, will be released this summer. The song is set in the "Hebangan Plains," where Nobu, who dreams of becoming a shogun, and the other members of the Corporations he encounters on the battlefield, are determined to live on despite the hopelessness of the battlefield, and the lyrics of the song push them forward. The new 60-second trailer, following the "Super Teaser PV" released on January 1 and the "Qiang Qiang PV" released on February 1, starts with Shin's words, "You made me wait! by Nobu. While we have been standing around wondering where to direct our passion for music after being unable to perform various activities due to Corona, this movie request has been a signpost for us as Mr. Children to move on to the next place.
After watching the movie, reading the script, reading the manga, and hearing the story, I had been thinking about what kind of song would be appropriate.
One night, after about a week of unconsciously living with the image of the song, I woke up with the first melody echoing in my dream, and from there I went to the piano and at once the current melody was created. From there, I created a demo on one of the computer monitors with images from the movie Kingdom playing on repeat with the sound turned off.
What we aimed for was,
-To make a magnificent scenery into sound.
-To capture in song the earnest wishes, the feelings for friends, the preciousness of life, and the strength to love.
-To respond to the physical vibrancy in the images.
The title of the song is "Live. It is a word that came to me motivated by the scenario. It was a phrase that surprised even me.
I created this film with the feeling of challenging myself to beat my personal best.

When I was envisioning the concept of "Kingdom 2," I often listened to Mr. Children's "Endless Journey" and "Footsteps - Be Strong" in my mind.
I approached them with the script I had just finished and asked if they would be interested in singing the theme song for the film.
The song "Ikiroro" was beyond my imagination. It reminded me of a boy with a seemingly reckless dream, growing up step by step with a promise to his friends in a land that stretches far beyond the horizon.
This magnificent song was the inspiration for the subtitle of the film, "To the Faraway Land. The spirit of "Ikiroro" definitely resides in the story of "Kingdom" and will surely move audiences. I hope you enjoy it!
