When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!
The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.
So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! Weekend Plastic Model! Let's start the memorable 50th issue!
The 50th Duke & Fire Parts
This time, following the previously introduced "Jedeker" and "Deckard & Max Cannon" kits from Kotobukiya's Yuusha series, we present the "Duke & Fire Parts".
This product is a set of "Knight Detective Duke", who appeared in the TV anime "Yusha Keisatsu Jaydecker", and "Fire Parts", which can power up "Jaydecker" to "Fire Jaydecker".
Let's start with the product package.
The package features Duke with his police identification card open and gun at the ready, and Fire Jay Decker, a combination of Fire Parts and Jay Decker, in the foreground against the backdrop of a city at night with flames looming in the distance.
The side of the kit also depicts the contents of the kit, including the combination into "Fire Jay Decker.
Another side also shows part of the front illustration.
The runners are as shown. The color scheme can be reproduced as much as possible by dividing the parts.
There are no stickers or decals, and some small parts are pre-painted, so you can enjoy just assembling it.
First of all, I assembled Knight Detective Duke.
Since this robot transforms from an ambulance, the main colors are white and red. The smart style of the small robot before merging into Duke Fire is also well reproduced.
The markings on the forehead and chest, as well as the red line on the chest, are color-coded by dividing the parts. Clear orange parts are used for the headlights of the ambulance.
The eyes are pre-painted. Only the shoulder details need to be painted to reproduce the details in the movie, but this part is not too difficult to paint if you use the molded colors.
The color scheme around the waist is also basically reproduced by dividing the parts.
It is interesting to note that the red parts of the waist are designed to look like a cross.
There is a red rotating light on the back. It is not a clear part, but since it is on the back side, it does not bother me so much. If you have the skill, you may choose to use the clear parts of "Jedeker" which is just right in terms of size.
The legs have simple lines, which is characteristic of the "Brave Robot". The rear wheels are exposed when in vehicle mode, which is typical for a heroic robot.
The head is connected with a ball joint. The head can be tilted forward and backward, left and right, and the neck can be rotated.
The fine details of the face can be seen in this close-up.
Shoulder joints. Possible to swing forward and move the shoulders up and down on the body side.
The shoulder connection is a ball joint, so it can also be rotated. The arms can be lifted horizontally to some extent.
Elbows are drawable, ensuring mobility without compromising the design.
Roll axis on the second arm. Wrist is also ball-jointed.
The chest and abdomen are ball-jointed, allowing light forward and backward flexion and rotation.
In addition, axis rotation is possible in the middle of the abdomen.
Front armor is not a flip-up type, but the armor is fixed to the leg side.
The hip joints are independently movable up and down.
The rear skirt is a flip-up type, and the front and rear leg openings are quite excellent. Action poses can be done with flair.
The leg openings are largely movable as long as you are careful to avoid interference with various parts.
The thighs have a roll rotation axis.
Ankles are connected with double ball joints. Knees are double-jointed and can be bent nearly 180 degrees.
Now, let's pose the robot by taking advantage of the movable parts and using the accessories!
A smart robot, but with cool, powerful steps! That's the brave robot!
The legs are large, but can be held in a kicking position.
The balance between the body and the movable parts is good, so standing on one knee is a natural pose.
Accessories are as shown. Two wrists holding a nightsword, waist parts for various stands, left and right supporting hands, left and right inserting hands, left and right police notebook handles, left and right pistol handles, and left and right saluting hands are included.
Three types of face parts are included: normal, smiling, and shouting. The face parts can be easily replaced even after assembly.
I won't let you!"
The Duke is blackmailing the bad guys.
Duke smartly holds his gun.
It's the Brave Police!
In the movie, there were not many scenes where the police notebook is shown except for Deckard, but in the plastic kit, Duke also has a notebook!
If you replace the waist rear part...
"Te ya!"
The optional "New Flying Base" and other commercially available stands can also be used for jumping action.
The salute-shaped wrists can be used in action to create a smart image.
A pistol is also included, but I think Duke would look better with a nightsword.
Now that we have introduced Duke, let's move on to the "Fire Parts".
It consists of additional armor for the chest and waist, additional armament for the left and right arms, a replaceable head, and replaceable ankles for the left and right.
Also included is a scabbard, a fire sword, and a fire sword with purse.
Here we have the Kotobukiya "Jay Decker" (partially pre-painted), also introduced previously, available at ....... ( Click here for the article on J-Decker )
The ankle is replaced with a whole ball-shaped part inside the ankle side.
Change the attachment position of the gray parts on the side of the legs of Jaydecker.
Replace the front armor on the chest and waist.
Parts will be added to the back side as if sandwiching the body of JDECKER.
The joint cover of the Jedeker arm is removed and the drill and claw parts that Duke transformed are combined to it.
The entire head is replaced with new parts. The balance of the size of the patrón and forehead ornament is changed.
The left hip is replaced with the "connecting side armor" included with Jaydecker, to which is connected the scabbard containing the fire sword.
This completes the Fire Jaydecker!
Kotobukiya's Yusha series is characterized by its good proportions and ease of assembly by limiting the figure to robot mode only. The figure has a wonderful style, as if the setting drawings from the anime were directly incorporated into the three-dimensional figure.
I like to stand her with her legs spread wide and strong, her hips slightly outstretched, and her upper body lightly tilted backward.
It is not quite an "S-stroke stand," but that is basically how I like it.
There is very little additional equipment on the back.
The legs are longer than those of the Jadecker due to the larger ankles.
The scabbard is a ladder part of the fire loader, so it has a certain sense of thread carving.
Still, it is long!
The markings on the chest are even larger than those on the Jaydecker. The black parts are color-coded by dividing the parts.
The additional weapons on the arms are also color-coded by dividing the parts from the red line to the black part, so you can get this color scheme just by assembling. Easy to assemble!
The ankles are completely replaced to express the combined body without losing the shape and overall balance of the image in the play. In addition to the ball joints at the base of the ankles, there are movable parts built into the additional parts, allowing the figure to tilt back and forth slightly to the left and right.
The base of the head is ball-jointed, but the added decoration on the side is too large and limited as a movable part. The shoulder parts can only be moved within the range of the concave gray parts. If you really want the head to face sideways, you can remove the head and reassemble it with the head facing sideways, but be careful not to damage it.
The movable parts of the arms, legs, and torso are the same as those of "Jedeker," which we have previously introduced.
The large panel on the chest is movable and does not interfere with the movable arms as much as possible.
The claw parts of the right arm can be extended and retracted.
Thanks to the movable chest ornament, both arms can be brought forward like this.
A heavy-looking leaping kick with a blow by the huge ankle!
The relatively large weapon, the jaybuster, is also a perfect fit!
The scabbard is also ball-jointed, so you can change the angle of the scabbard, allowing you to recreate poses such as the one just before the sword is drawn.
Fire Sword!
It's a huge sword, but it also has a cool fighting action.
"Haaaaaaah!"
Fire Jadecker jumps up and down with his sword!
Viewpoint of the enemy being cut down!
When equipped with a perspex fire sword, as you can see. The perspective makes the Sword look insanely long!
And more! Equipped with the Max Cannon from Kotobukiya's "Deckard & Max Cannon," which we also introduced in the past.
( Click here to see the article on "Deckard & Max Cannon" )
The huge ankles allow for a powerful stance.
As you can see, this product is maximum fun when combined with the Jedeker and Deckard & Max Cannon mode kits, but here is the usual "extra step"!
This time, I gave it a partial paint job and a smear job, since it looks cool enough to be easily completed.
First, Duke.
I wanted to paint the shoulders. First, I covered the front of the shoulders with masking tape, and painted them black. If the paint sticks out, you can remove it by sanding with a design knife or sandpaper, and you will be able to see the white base.
Next, for the red part, cover all areas except the area to be painted red with masking tape, because painting red on top of black will make it dull. Then, shave the bare black cross-shaped part with sandpaper until the white plastic appears. Paint the red color there and slowly remove the masking tape to complete painting the shoulders.
The triangle on the knee is partially painted with an ultra-fine red marker. If the red marker protrudes from this area, it can be scraped off lightly.
The back is painted with gray parts and smeared.
Facial expression is also clear.
The front grille and side skirts of the chest, the center line of the waist, and the body of Duke are not so many parts that need to be painted.
It feels good to smear on the soles of the feet as well.
You will also be able to check the fine details of the police notebook. If you can afford it, why don't you try painting the police notebook?
By the way, since the wrists holding the pistols are both left and right, it is possible to use two pistols.
Saluting to the lady!
A closed version of the police notebook is also included.
I made her hold the pistol with both hands using the supporting hand.
Next, I also partially painted Fire Jadecker!
Fire Jadecker!
I painted the decorative parts of the chest and head. Rather than painting all the yellow parts gold, I thought it would be more noticeable if I painted only the parts I wanted to emphasize, so I narrowed down the areas to be painted.
The details of the soles of the feet, which were shown almost every time after the merging in the movie, are also perfectly reproduced. It is clearly shown by Sumiire.
The scabbard is also painted with Sumiire to emphasize that it is a ladder.
Additional ankle parts have also been smudged.
The words "BRAVE POLICE" on the chest should be smeared even if the emblem is not painted. The bright molding color makes the details fly away.
The decorative part of the head is also smudged. I also made the lines on the helmet part clear.
Once again, "Burning! Fire sword!"
I want a flame effect on the sword or something~! Or maybe I'll buy another one and paint it red!
Hmph!"
Ooooh!!!"
Oh ......, cool ....... I am speechless.
Fire Jadecker Max Cannon mode!"
The golden emblem seen through the cannon is a nice touch!
So, it was the FireJadecker Max Cannon Mode with no questions asked and powerful.
Although not specifically mentioned in the instruction manual this time, it can also be combined with "Brave Girl.
The Gao Figer Girl was also announced, and I am actually looking forward to that one as well!
How did you like the "Duke & Fire Parts" kit, which can be enjoyed many times more when combined with Jaydecker? We recommend purchasing the two kits as a set if possible, as the Jay Decker kit was also available in stores on the day of release! And if you can afford it, you can also get the Deckard & Max Cannon!
I think it is the charm of plastic kits that they are so well proportioned and can be moved so well at this size. If it were a PVC Muku of this size, it would be a bit too heavy and difficult to pose.
Kotobukiya's Yusha series kits will soon include the Golden Swordsman Doran,Da Gahn X, and other Yusha robots. It seems that the number of kits is finally increasing, but there are 8 kits in the Yuusha series, so...! Keep up the good work!
See you again in the next review!
