Opening April 9 (Sat.)! Yuichi Nakamura & Yuma Uchida play senior and junior in new Calorie Mate WEBCM! Watch out for their message to new workers and young employees!

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. will release a new "Small Nutritionist, Senior's Back" episode of its balanced nutrition food "Calorie Mate," which provides the five major nutrients the body needs easily, on its official YouTube channel from April 9, 2022 (Saturday).

Popular voice actors Yuichi Nakamura and Yuma Uchida play the roles of a newcomer, "vanilla flavor," and a senior, "chocolate flavor," who joined the Calorie Mate block-type lineup in March of this year. Actor Daichi Kaneko, who also appears in the new Calorie Mate TV commercial "Blue Calorie Mate" airing nationwide from April 9 (Saturday), will also appear in this WEBCM as a young employee.

Up until now, Calorie Mate has supported various people, such as students preparing for exams and club activities. This WEBCM will deliver a message of support through the interaction between senior and junior employees to young working adults whose working styles have been greatly changed by new lifestyles, and to senior employees who face such young adults.

The new Calorie Mate "vanilla flavor" and the senior Calorie Mate "chocolate flavor" are in a cute style, but the dialogue between the senior and junior members of the team is not only cute, but also contains a profound message about work.
The work is a cheer-up for new workers through the "back" of Calorie Mate with "nutrition" written on it and the "back" of senpai (senior) shown to junior workers in the workplace!

The "Little Nutritionist: The Backs of Senpai" Arc
This March, a new "vanilla flavor" was added to the Calorie Mate lineup. Calorie Mate has been creating various flavors of products for about 40 years, and some of you may remember "Oh, that flavor was released at that time. Many young people who take a new step forward this spring will be living a new working life in a new lifestyle.
The vanilla flavor that came into the world at this time of year is also "the newcomer of the same season" for the newcomers. This web animation will deliver a message of support to newcomers and other young working people through the interaction between the "newcomer of the year" vanilla flavor and the "senior" chocolate flavor, so that they will remember the vanilla flavor later on.

CM Story (30 seconds)
The new "blue Calorie Mate" or "vanilla flavor" appears on the screen. The senior "Chocolate flavor" appears and says, "Rookie-kun. He nervously replies, "Ah, senpai. Vanilla flavor" nervously replies. Chocolate flavor" says, "I like your blue color." Then he turns his back to the junior and says, "You should learn your job by watching your seniors' backs," and "Your seniors' backs are nourishment. The nutritional information on the back of the Calorie Mate package is on the back of his back. Vanilla-flavored Calorie Mate is a message from a senior that one should grow up by getting nourishment from one's own backside. The scene changes to a new employee, played by Mr. Daichi Kaneko, who is being taught his job at the office while watching his seniors' backs. Just as the vanilla flavor gets nourishment from the backs of his seniors, Mr. Kaneko learns from them and works hard at his job while eating "Blue Calorie Mate.
At the end of the episode, the vanilla flavor sends a message of support to young working people like the one played by Mr. Kaneko, saying, "Okay, keep up the good work.

Filming Episodes
In the voice recording scene between Ms. Nakamura and Mr. Uchida, who have worked together on numerous productions, the studio was amazed at how perfectly they were able to communicate so well in the first take that they almost gave the OK. The filming proceeded in such a friendly atmosphere that the wide range of the characters was unintentionally amusing.
In the following office scene, Kaneko-san, a junior, learns how to prepare materials from her senpai over her senior's back as if following the interaction between the two small nutritionists, demonstrating her "junior ability" to honestly face her senpai as in the "Blue Calorie Mate" episode. The scene was filmed in the same way as in the "Blue Calorie Mate" episode.

─ How did you feel when you were chosen for this commercial? Also, how did you feel today?

(Mr. Nakamura) I was nervous because it had been a long time since I had worked with Calorie Mate and the chocolate flavor! I went into the recording with my personal theme of playing a slightly more matured version of him. I feel like I was able to work well with Uchida-kun on the recording!

(Mr. Uchida) I have eaten Calorie Mate myself and have always been familiar with it, so I was very happy to be able to work with it! And I am very honored to be working with Yuichi Nakamura, who has been a great help to me in both my public and private life!

(Mr. Nakamura) Please tell us how you felt after the shooting of the commercial.

(Mr. Nakamura) We had a lot of fun while trying out different patterns! I hope that the viewers will have as much fun as possible....

(Ms. Uchida) The recording went by very quickly. We were able to try out several patterns for Vanilla-kun's character, so I am looking forward to seeing the finished video!

─ In the commercial, there is a line that says, "You learn your job by watching your seniors' backs. Do you have any episodes with your senior voice actors?

(Mr. Uchida) Well, Yuichi Nakamura is someone I respect and admire. He takes me for drives, treats me to dinner, and shares many fun things with me, which makes me very happy!

─ This commercial will be released on April 9 (Saturday). Do you have a message for the new members of society who are going to work hard following the backs of their seniors?

(Mr. Nakamura) This commercial may or may not give you the image of a miniature version of society...? (laugh) Please do your best in your new life while deciding on moderate nutritional supplements!

(Ms. Uchida) Beginnings are always a mixture of anticipation and anxiety, and even if you don't have the courage to move forward alone, you can move forward together with others. Let's challenge our new life together while eating Calorie Mate! I'm going to eat a lot of Calorie Mate and do my best!
