Blue Rock" (original story by Muneyuki Kaneshiro, manga by Yusuke Nomura), serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine," is a popular manga that won the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in the Juvenile Division. A long interview with Soma Saito, who plays the role of Chigiri Hyoma, has arrived! The interview is full of highlights, such as the charm of Chigiri and the character that Mr. Saito is interested in.

Saito: I'm still in the recording stage, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to play the role of Ryoma Chigiri in the show.
Saito: At this stage of recording, he is still not that hot, but as those who have read the original story know, Chigiri will have another blooming moment. At first he was cold compared to everyone else, but you can't help but love the fact that he starts to run the field on his feet, of his own volition. I think it is very cool that Chigiri continues to hone the one weapon he has absolute confidence in.

What are some of the highlights of this work?
Saito: When I read the original story before auditioning for the role, I was shocked to learn that all the players are forwards, even though the story is about soccer. I was very shocked. It was a great shock to me to see the egos of each character clashing and being awakened in the midst of battle. Each of the characters is a curmudgeon, and I think one of the charms of the show is that the combination of the characters creates a completely different chemical reaction.

Is there any other character you are interested in besides the ones you play?
Saito: All the characters are really great, but I personally like the relationship between Nagi and Reio. I feel very sympathetic to Reio in particular. I also like Aryu's osha sensibility, Shido's trickster sensibility, and first of all, Eshin's characterization is outstanding. I am looking forward to seeing how each character will be voiced and what they will look like.
