The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.

So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! Let's get started with the 52nd issue!

Vol. 52 MODEROID AV-0 Peacemaker

Good Smile Company has been releasing a series of plastic kits of "Mobile Police Patlabor" as part of the "MODEROID" series. This time, we introduce the 1/60 scale "AV-0 Peacemaker," the world's first plastic kit of the series!

Although a few items from the TV anime had already appeared in soft vinyl form, this is the long-awaited commercialization of a plastic kit that is easy to get hold of.

Let's take a look at the package first.

The illustration seems to express the name of the "Peacemaker," as it protects the peace of the town with blue skies.

On the back is an introduction to the gimmick. You can choose between Unit 1 and Unit 2 by selecting decals to complete the model.

On the side is the main logo of "PATLABOR". I thought that the "Patlabor" style was taken care of in this area.

The top and bottom surfaces are designed to be easily recognizable no matter how it is displayed in a store, a design that is familiar to MODEROID.

The runner is as you can see. The number of colors is small, as this is a police vehicle. The clear parts are available in two patterns: pre-colored and colorless.

There is one water-transfer decal. There are 4 decals in total as a spare for the difficult to apply decals around the patrol lamps.

The instruction manual is in full color and very easy to read.

There are not many parts, so it does not take much time to assemble.

The silhouette is attractive, with simple lines and a somewhat heroic impression. The "cherry blossom crest" on the chest is a symbol of the police vehicle. The crest parts and the gray parts of the shoulder armor were pre-painted.

The rear view is clean and uncluttered with no unnecessary parts on its back, showing that it is similar to the AV-98 Ingram, but has been upgraded.

The head sensors and shoulder lights are made of pre-painted clear parts. Facial expression is soft.

The joints of the shoulders and elbows have sculpted sealing parts, giving the figure a Reaver-like appearance. The upper arm armor looks like muscle.

The contrast between the solid exterior of the Reaver and the soft-looking sealing parts of the joints is interesting.

The parts that look like thrusters on the back are more natural to think of them as waste heat vents on the Ray-bar.

The waist and front section have details that look like blinkers and headlights.

On the waist, you can see details where the blinkers and license plate fit.

The lines of the legs are superb, with curved surfaces and straight lines coexisting.

The color coding around the legs has been almost perfectly reproduced by parting out the parts.

The movable range of the head. The connection with the torso is ball-jointed and can be tilted back and forth and rotated.

The shoulders are movable for forward and backward rotation, and as you can see, the arms can be raised.

For horizontal movement, the shoulder armor is also movable to some extent, so it can be lifted up to this level.

The shoulders can also swing slightly on the body side.

The elbow can be bent this far on a single axis. Roll rotation is also possible at the elbow.

The wrists are connected with ball joints, so they can be moved freely.

The waist can be tilted and twisted to the left and right. ......

The waist can be bent forward and backward.

The base of the hip joint can be moved up and down independently to the left and right. The hip joints have a range of motion and support for posing.

The front and rear legs can be opened approximately 180 degrees.

Due to the shape of the thigh armor, the left and right legs can be opened to this degree.

There is a roll rotation axis on the thigh.

The knees can be bent about this much.

The ankle can be pulled out a little.

As you can see, the front-back and left-right swings are as shown. Only the toes can be lifted slightly.

Other accessories include the shield, arms with stun stick, extension arm for piercing hand, revolver cannon, various wrists, stun stick, and attachment parts for connecting to the stand.

Let's try some poses with these parts!

I personally don't have an image of a fighting pose, since Reaver has a rather smart impression.

I came to ...... when I thought so. I think a strong heel drop is going to be a good choice.

I think standing on one knee is cool too.

Unlike Ingram, Peacemaker has a revolver cannon stored in its chest. In this kit, the hatch can be opened to recreate the scene where he takes out the revolver cannon, although it cannot be stored.

Peacemaker holds the gun with one hand.

The Peacemaker with both hands ready to shoot.

Could it be that Peacemaker is a thin macho man?

Reproduce the scene where he takes out his stance stick by replacing his left forearm.

If you want to keep the arm armor deployed while holding the stance stick, remove the stowed stance stick.

In addition, the left arm can be equipped with a shield by replacing the entire black armored part.

If you are wondering "What? (or perhaps many of you know the model "AV-0") are astute. In fact, this Peacemaker is the equivalent of the "Zero" in the movie version of "Patlabor. It is one of the charms of "Patlabor" that each media has its own separate world view.

So it seems that this Peacemaker also has a piercing hand attack.

The stance stick can be held in the left hand, so it can also hold all of its weapons like this.

Now, I would like to go to the usual "extra touches" here.

The color of the figure is still a bit lacking in some parts of the figure. So, while utilizing the included decals, I applied a minimal amount of partial painting, smudging, and matte finish.

I dared to complete it with the second model, as I thought there would probably be more people who would complete it with the first model.

How do you like it? Especially, the shield was completely white and lonely. I think it will not be so difficult to paint the shields, because the molds are placed in the paint lines.

The round gray details in various parts should also be painted.

The tips of the ears on the head should also be painted. The black decals on the shoulders need to be bent a lot, so it is easier to use a mark softener or mark setter to apply them.

Decals are also used for blinkers and license plate. Some people may find it easier to paint the blinkers.

The back blinkers may be a bit difficult here because they are thin parts and have to be bent and pasted.

The shield is a big part that is good to paint. I want to paint it as evenly as possible.

The stanchion storage part has mechanical details, so smearing is also effective. If you are particular about it, you may paint it with metallic paint.

If you paint the shield, it will look more like "Type Zero".

On the back and underside of the waist, there are receptacles for attachment parts for attaching a stand.

Using The Simple Stand and other attachments, you can recreate action poses like this.

The side-jumping shot is somewhat of a promise of the detective series.

The name "Type Zero" was mentioned earlier, so I brought up the Type Zero that appeared in a previous review. It is somewhat similar, but at the same time completely different.

The huge shield is similar to that of "Zero".

The silhouettes of the ears and the shoulder lamps are similar.

The two units together are holding hands. Peacemaker's facial expression is more gentle. Zero's personality seems a bit harsh.

These two machines are identical in different world lines. If they were not plastic kits, they would not be standing side by side like this.

The Type Zero may have looked brighter, but so be it. This Type Zero has been fully painted, and the white parts are pure white. In contrast, the white parts of the Peacemaker, which are still in the molded color, have a slight gray tint to them.

Therefore, we have prepared a fully painted version as well, since there are only a few colors needed.

The paints used were white (Gaia Color Ex White), black (Gaia Color Ex Black), ears, etc. (GSI Creos Neutral Gray), gray of joints (Gaia Color MechaSurf LIGHT), headlights (GSI Creos Sword Striker Blue), indicators (GSI Creos Clear Orange), Smileys (GSI Creos Weathering Color Multi Black), GSI Creos Super Clear III gloss for the armored parts and Gaia Color Ex Flat Clear for the joints) for the finish.

There may be a difference of opinion as to whether to use glossy or matte finish on a Reaver model, but this time, I tried to do both.

I wonder which you think is better for your image.

That's all for now.

Incidentally, MODEROID will be releasing more raver carriers in the future, and it seems that this series will continue to expand as a series that can be enjoyed in various combinations.

The Peacemaker was a long-awaited plastic kit, but which Reavers would you like to see in the future? It is one of the interesting aspects of MODEROID that unexpected mecha are made into kits, so let's look forward to further developments!
