CRIMESIGHT" is a new type of mind-bending mystery simulator that challenges players to guess not only the murderer, but also the victim! CRIMESIGHT" - A new type of mind-bending mystery simulator with a hot competitive battle of wits!

How are you doing, Akiba Research Institute readers? This is Nero Hyakkabe, a writer who buys too many games. I hope you all like mysteries. The appeal of mysteries is that they are filled with the "fun of thinking" together with the characters, such as the pleasure of solving a mystery and the thrill of being surprised by a surprise twist. This time, we would like to introduce "CRIMESIGHT," a game that allows players to enjoy the charm of mysteries in a competitive game.

First, let us introduce the world view of "CRIMESIGHT"! The battle between Sherlock and Moriarty begins in London in the year 2075!

CRIMESIGHT" is a competitive mystery simulator game released by KONAMI. At first glance, "CRIMESIGHT" seems to be a strange combination of genres: a "simulator" with "mystery" in a "competitive" setting. When you actually play the game, you will realize that it is indeed a work of a genre unlike any other, with elements of "battle" and "mystery," as well as the feel of a "simulator.

Before explaining the rules and systems of this work, let us first introduce the game's worldview.

The game takes place in London in the year 2075, more than 50 years in the future, in a world where the development of AI technology has succeeded in predicting and preventing future crimes, and where the incidence of violent crimes has decreased by 90% compared to the past. However, the world was predicted to be on the verge of destruction due to incidents that could not be prevented even with such predictions. System developers are concerned about this situation and have created "Sherlock," an AI that specializes in investigating and solving violent crimes that lead to the destruction of the world.

In the course of pursuing a number of crimes, "Sherlock" has come up with a fact: a spider was living at the center of the crime. It was the existence of "Moriarty," a crime planning AI with performance rivaling its own that sat like a spider at the center of a case. ...... is the worldview and story of this work. The AI is named after the famous detective "Sherlock Holmes" and his nemesis, the great criminal "James Moriarty," and the setting is based on the future of London, where Sherlock Holmes' main activities took place. The game's unique worldview, which combines mystery and science fiction, will captivate players' hearts and minds.

The design of the characters that appear throughout the game and the cyber-inspired graphics are also major attractions of this title. The unique visuals, which combine the retro world of Sherlock Holmes with a near-future setting, will delight players' eyes.

The game system of "CRIMESIGHT" is introduced!
Moriarty" is a player who wants to create a murder case by hiding among the other players!

Let's take a look at the game system of "CRIMESIGHT".
First of all, as a basic premise, players are divided into two groups: the "Sherlock" side and the "Moriarty" side. This game can be played by 2 to 4 players, and there is another role called "Irene" that appears only when 4 players are playing, which will be introduced later.

The objective of the "Sherlock" player is to avoid a murder until the in-game time limit elapses, or to identify the perpetrator of the murder.

On the "Moriarty" side, the objective is simply to "commit a murder. However, various conditions are necessary for this to happen, and only when all of them are met can the murder be committed.

Although they are not the same thing, it may be easier to understand the role of "Sherlock" as the villager and "Moriarty" as the werewolf in a "wargame". "Sherlock" is the villager and "Moriarty" is the werewolf.

Let's start with the "Moriarty" side.

As mentioned earlier, this game can be played by 2 to 4 players, but only one player on the "Moriarty" side is always chosen, regardless of the number of players in the game. The goal of "Moriarty" is to "commit a murder," but it is not actually the player himself who commits the murder in this game. In fact, it is not the player himself who commits the murders, but rather, it is not the player himself who is the target of the murder. Although it is a battle game in which players fight each other, the target of the murder is not the player himself. ...... Let's take a closer look at what is going on.

The game takes place in a Western-style house in the middle of a snowstorm. The interior of the house is made up of multiple rooms that are connected to each other and further divided by "areas" that are mapped out in the form of squares.

Six characters called "pawns" are assigned to the house. Each turn, the player "controls" these pawns by giving them instructions. For example, "Move Pawn A to this area for further exploration," which is easy to understand if you imagine moving the frames in a board game. This unique sense of play, in which the player controls the Pawn from a third-person perspective, rather than acting as the character himself, is the reason why this title is called a competitive mystery "simulator". This is probably the reason why this work is called a "simulator," a competitive mystery.
The six Pawns include a "killer" and his "target". Moriarty's goal, to be more precise, is to kill the "target" Pawn with the "killer" Pawn. Approaching the target with a normal Pawn, which is neither of these roles, will not execute the kill, nor will a killer kill a normal Pawn.

Incidentally, Moriarty starts the game knowing which Pawn is the killer or target, whereas Sherlock starts the game with no such information. The Sherlock player must deduce who is the killer and who is the target from the movements of the suspicious pawns and the information available to him or her during the game.

However, it is not just a matter of moving the killer and getting close to the target to kill it. There are still conditions for killing.

In this game, the player moves Pawn to search for shiny spots scattered around the mansion to obtain various items such as "food," "weapons," and "medicine," but the one item that is necessary for killing is ......, which, as it goes without saying, is the murder weapon! The murder weapon is the one you need to kill the victim.

One of the conditions for a murder is that the killer must have the murder weapon. In mystery novels, the murder weapon is sometimes a key element in the case, as it may appear unexpectedly or disappear from the scene.

Incidentally, Moriarty has the advantage of knowing at which search points the murder weapon and food are located, a trait that is a weapon for Moriarty but a nuisance for the Sherlock side.

The conditions for the remaining kills to take place are that the killer and target are in the same area and that there is not a single normal Pawn in the room with effective visibility.

In other words, the killer and the target must be in the same square together. If you had access to guns, poison, or other weapons, you might be able to kill the target remotely, but the weapons in this game are all designed for close combat, such as hammers, kitchen knives, deer antlers (!), and so on. ), so they have to be in the same square.

In other words, there must be no witnesses in the same room. Even in mystery dramas, it is fearless for a murderer to commit a murder while there are witnesses nearby (or perhaps it is a trick to take advantage of the situation). However, if the witness does not have "effective vision," it is a different story: if a "power outage" occurs in the museum due to Moriarty's Pawn, or if the witness is "dying" due to a combination of hunger or injury, the Pawn will lose its vision. Pawn will lose its vision. If this happens, the killer is considered "not in the room" and cannot be stopped.

  • The killer has the weapon.
  • Killer and target are in the same area
  • No one else is in the room.

It is very important for Moriarty to keep these three conditions in mind at all times, both for Moriarty, who wants to carry out his plan, and for Sherlock, who has to stop Moriarty from committing the crime. By the way, if you turn on the "Basic Rules HUD" option, the kill condition is always displayed on the screen during play, which is a nice touch.

The basic winning strategy for Moriarty's side is to have the killer acquire a weapon, and to create a situation where the killer and target are as close as possible and there are no other pawns around. The experience of "tricking" and "scheming" to create the ideal board while hiding among the Sherlocks is the real thrill for the player in charge of Moriarty.

There are several characteristics of Moriarty that must be remembered in order to win. One of them is that "Moriarty cannot control the target. Although it knows who the target is, it cannot manipulate the target to move it closer to the killer or away from the other Pawns. This is a weakness given to Moriarty.

There is one more weakness. The Sherlock side can control a total of three Pawns in four-player and two-player games, and four Pawns in three-player games, whereas Moriarty can only control two Pawns at any given time. In other words, the Moriarty side can only control 2 Pawns at any given time. In short, they are always at a disadvantage in terms of the number of Pawns they can control compared to Sherlock's side.

However, there is an advantage. It can override Sherlock's control. In this game, it is possible for a player's choice of Pawn to conflict with another player's. When Sherlocks conflict with each other, which control has priority is randomized, but when Moriarty and Sherlock conflict, Moriarty's control will always have priority, However, if Moriarty and Sherlock go head to head, Moriarty's control is always given priority.

The real fun of Moriarty is to be aware of these weaknesses and strengths, and to play smart to outperform Sherlock's defenses and deductions. When your crime plan is successfully executed, you will be filled with a sense of accomplishing evil.

The "Sherlock" uses his deductive reasoning and insight to prevent incidents from occurring! In the four-player game, "Irene" appears to mislead Sherlock, causing the game to take a tumultuous turn!

The objective of the "Sherlock" side, as mentioned at the beginning of the game, is to avoid a murder until the in-game time limit elapses, or to identify the perpetrator of the murder. As the game is named after the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, the basic play of Sherlock is to deduce and identify the suspicious pawns by organizing information.

The first and most important aspect of playing on the Sherlock side is securing food.

Food, as mentioned earlier, is one of the items that may be found when you tell the pawns to search. In the game, the system is such that a day ends after three turns of day, evening, and night, and at the end of this day, "meal time" occurs. Pawns with food will automatically eat during this meal time, but pawns that have gone through the night without eating will become "hungry. If a pawn's movement is restricted, the pawn's movement range will be reduced. If the target is a Pawn with restricted movement, it will have a harder time escaping from the killer, and victory will be elusive.

Unlike Moriarty, the Sherlock side is at a disadvantage in that it does not know which search points have food hidden in them, but anyway, the first step to victory is to get food to the Pawns as soon as possible.

When explaining Moriarty earlier, I mentioned that if Moriarty and Sherlock's control is in conflict, Moriarty's control will always take precedence. At first glance, this seems to be a disadvantageous system for the Sherlock side, but in fact, it is a clue to a great deduction.

As mentioned earlier, Moriarty cannot control the target. Therefore, the fact that Moriarty was able to override Sherlock's control means that the Pawn is not the target.

There is one more piece of information that is essential for Sherlock's players to foil Moriarty's plan: the "AI Sherlock" that comes at the end of each day. This is the "AI Sherlock's Prediction of the Future" that comes at the end of each day. This is a useful feature that gives you a strong indication of whether or not there will be a killer within three areas of the target at night, the last turn of the day.

If A is the target, BCD is not likely to be a killer," or "If B is the target, ACD is not a killer," the information is displayed in the form of character icons marked with an asterisk (*) for all six targets at once. In some cases, a normal Pawn that is neither a killer nor a target is revealed.

Although it is a little complicated due to the large amount of information, I tried to deduce the Pawn with the least number of cross marks as "the most likely killer at this time. The strategy of each player on how to use this future prediction information on both Sherlock's and Moriarty's side will also be a deep part of this work.

The player will be able to deduce the target by accumulating information such as control bouts with Moriarty and future predictions, and then identify the target and highlight the killer who will be after it. ...... I believe that this logical thinking is the real thrill of the Sherlock side of the game, and the main attraction of this "mystery game".

However, it is extremely difficult to remember all the information that is presented one after another, but there is no need to worry. The pawn icons at the top of the screen always indicate whether or not each character has killer and target potential remaining, making it easy to see at a glance. Furthermore, the information "If this Pawn is a target, who is a possible killer candidate?" can be checked at any time by placing the cursor on the Pawn you wish to examine and pressing the Tab key.
In an analog game, you would have to rely on your memory or take notes, but the ease with which you can check the information you want at any time on the screen can be said to be a strength of this digital game.

In addition to Sherlock and Moriarty, there is another role in this game called "Irene," which can be added only when four players are playing. Irene, a disruption AI derived from Moriarty, can only win if Moriarty wins. Like Moriarty, Irene knows who the killer and target are, and since Irene and Moriarty are aware of each other, the player who becomes Irene must work behind the scenes to help Moriarty accomplish his plan. Note, however, that Irene, like Moriarty, cannot control her target.

Irene's control is set up to camouflage Sherlock's signal, and if this control butts heads with Sherlock, the result is the same as when Sherlocks butt heads with each other: which one will be adopted is random.
Moreover, the Sherlock cannot detect whether it is batting with Irene or not (it is indistinguishable from batting between Sherlocks). This means that the investigation can be "disrupted".

The film has a communication system called Ping and Stamp. This function allows players to communicate their intentions to other players, such as "I control this pawn" or "I am moving here," and to send simple greetings and standardized text chat. Irene and Moriarty have their own pings and stamps that are not detectable by Sherlock players. The front ping says "I control this Pawn" and pretends to be a Sherlock, while the back stamp says "I'll take care of the killer! and communicate with your accomplices. This sense of "sneaking around behind everyone's back" is very stimulating and interesting, and one of the members I played with this time said, "I prefer playing with Moriarty and Irene. Others said, "Moriarty usually has to fight alone with a lot of care, but with Irene as his accomplice, he feels much more comfortable.

Although it is possible to play with three Sherlocks and Moriarty without Irene, I recommend adding Irene to the four-player game for a more exciting experience.

Here's the best part! My personal recommendation for "CRIMESIGHT

The first thing I would like to mention as a recommendation for this title is its unique gameplay, which allows players to enjoy "intense psychological battles and the fun of thinking carefully. Who is Moriarty, who is the target of Moriarty, who is the target of Moriarty, are there any bluffs hidden in other players' actions, and can we really believe the pings of the opponents presented in the game? In this game, there are many situations where you will have to twist your brain and use your deductive reasoning, or engage in psychological games with other players. The ability to enjoy both brain games and psychological games to the fullest is a major attraction of this title. This is a game that not only fans of wargames and puzzle-solving games will enjoy, but also puzzle games and board games.

The fact that the game can be played with a small number of players is also a big selling point for me. Many wargames and battle royale-type games require a rather large number of players to play, but the minimum number of players for this game is 2, and the maximum number of players is 4. However, the minimum number of players for this game is two, and the maximum number of players is four, so I felt that it is quite easy to invite friends to play with you. (In fact, I don't have many friends around me who play PC games, but even so, I was able to enjoy four-player play this time with just my friends.)

) Also, I am the type of person who shies away from joining a large room or team to play with a stranger in what is called "wild play," but I felt that even I could play with a stranger in this game with relative ease. I felt that I could play with a stranger with relative ease. The easy communication function using pings and stamps, which does not require text input or voice chat, also lowers the tension and hurdles of playing against other players.

Speaking of lowering the hurdle to playing against other players, I must also mention the tutorial and training mode. In werewolf or battlow-style games, there may be a brief tutorial, but the game will say, "Get used to it through actual battles! In many titles, you are suddenly thrown into the battlefield. As a result, beginners who are thrown into a room full of experienced players may unwittingly drag their feet or fail to keep up with other players because they don't understand the technical terms. This can happen.

However, this title provides a detailed tutorial where you can learn the rules step by step while actually playing against the AI, as well as training sessions where you can play against the AI on both the Sherlock and Moriarty sides, so you can learn the basics of the game on your own before your first game against a human opponent. You can learn the basics of the game on your own before your first game against an opponent. The tutorial and training can be played over and over again, so you can use them to review the parts of the game you had trouble understanding after you have finished playing against other players. To be honest, the rules of this game are rather complicated, but I felt that this was more than compensated for.

Another minor point that should not be overlooked is the fact that there is no "dropout" during the game. Many gamers have experienced being hung on the first day of a wargame or being the only one killed early in a team-based Battrova game (......). It is a lonely feeling to be the only one to drop out of a game, but in this game, there is no system that forces players to drop out in the middle of the game. The game system of this title, which allows all players to enjoy the game to the end, regardless of whether they are beginners or experienced players, is a point that I would like to emphasize.

The heated head-to-head and psychological battles are addicting! CRIMESIGHT" is so addictive that you will want to play it again and again!

So, this is my introduction of "CRIMESIGHT".

You can play as a Sherlock, a Moriarty, a scheming deceiver, or an Irene, an evil conspirator at ....... No matter which role you play, "CRIMESIGHT" will make your hands sweat, or rather, your brain sweat, as you enjoy a full range of brain and psychological warfare. I have played the game for a while and found it to be addictive, making me want to play it over and over again. The game does not require action techniques or reflexes, so I got the impression that even people who do not usually play games can enjoy it.

For those who are looking for a new kind of competitive game or puzzle-solving game that is different from the games of the past, this is a title that I highly recommend that you try and get hooked on.
