TV Anime "Karasu in the Later Palace" to air from October 2022! Teaser visual, cast, staff, etc. all revealed!

It has been decided that the TV anime of the Chinese fantasy tale "The Raven of the Later Palace" will be broadcast from October 2022. It was also announced that the teaser PV will be released on April 21 (Thu.) at 9:00 p.m. for the October 2022 broadcast.

Karasu in the Later Palace" (Author: Konko Shirakawa / Illustration: Kayoko) is a Chinese fantasy tale that has sold more than 1 million copies in total. The majestic and magnificent story centers on Juxue, a special queen who does not engage in nocturnal sexual intercourse and is called "Wu-hui," and the emperor of the time, Gaoshun.

The latest information released this time includes a teaser visual depicting the bewitching Kotobuki, four cast members, the main staff, and an introduction.

I am pleased to announce that I will be voicing the character of Hisayuki Yanagi. My name is Saku Mizuno!
I was attracted by the beauty of the original novel from the first sight of its cover.
I loved the content and atmosphere of the novel so much that I almost cried while reading it on the move....
I am very much looking forward to being involved in such a wonderful work!
This is the first time for me to play the main character, so I am a bit anxious, but I will do my best and pull myself together even more than before, so thank you in advance!

Takataka Natsu: Masaaki Mizunaka

My name is Masaaki Mizunaka and I will be playing the role of Xia Goshun.
The novel "The Raven in the Later Palace" is a beautiful worldview that I could sense from the words and characters spun in the novel, and the colors immediately took hold in my mind.
The story follows the young emperor, Gao Shun, as he visits Juxue, a special queen known as the "Crow Queen," to make a certain request.
The beauty and fragility depicted through the various events, or perhaps I should say a quiet weight in the heart, drew me in.
I am looking forward to seeing how the world and the human characters will be colored in the animation.
I will put my heart and soul into the work as Takataka, with the joy of playing the role. Please look forward to it.

Tak Yashiro: Taku Yatsushiro

My name is Taku Yashiro, and I will be playing the role of Ei Qing.
The subject matter and setting of this work may perhaps be unfamiliar to many of you.
However, as you read through the novel, you will be immersed in the very human drama of values, conflicts, and schemes that are unique to this work.
Personally, the landscape of this period makes me imagine a beautiful and majestic atmosphere, so I am very much looking forward to seeing how it will be depicted in the animated version. I would be very happy if you could take a look at it.

Marika Takano

I am Marika Takano, the voice of Jiu Jiu.
The word "jutsu" is very exciting, isn't it? It is a special technique that the main character can use in the solemn Chinese world!
I will be playing the role of Kuju while enjoying the development of the original story and wondering how it will be affected by the elaborate foreshadowing.
I can't wait to see them all in action on TV.

I have been an author for almost 10 years now, but rather than walking on my own feet, I feel that I was "nurtured" by editors and readers, so in that sense, I am happy that the anime adaptation is the fruit of many people's efforts in a new way.
I am also grateful for the enthusiasm of the animation staff, and I look forward to seeing Jyusetsu and the other characters in action.

I went to Nara on a one-day trip to do research and location scouting, and while I was taking pictures of the buildings, a raven happened to come by.
I felt like I was being cheered up by the raven. I felt like I was being cheered up by a raven.

When I was first asked to illustrate "The Raven of the Palace," I was fascinated by the motifs of the queen called the raven and the peony that lurked deep within the palace.
I enjoyed developing the image and I remember that I was so absorbed in drawing Juxue's design.
I am very much looking forward to seeing how Jyusetsu and Takashun will look like in the animated version of the world of the ravens in the inner palace!

Character Design: Shinji Takeuchi ("Gintama" series, "FAIRY TAIL")
This is my first time designing a character based on a novel. Although it is a fantasy, there are many historical elements, and I struggled a lot with the technical terms, but I am enjoying the process of making it come to life.
I hope that you will like the fascinating characters of "The Crow of the Later Palace" even more.
