The first season of the series, which aired from January to March 2013, was a five-minute short anime series that gained popularity for its continuous storyline and heartwarming episodes, and the pilgrimage events held in Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture, where the series takes place, were a great success. So, Yamano Smile Next Summit will finally start airing in the fall.
This time, I was able to get involved in the script, the setting, and other deep aspects of the project, which is more than I've ever done before. Thank you to all the staff involved.
We are currently receiving data on the animation that is being produced from time to time, and the quality is even more amazing than before...! Also, the ED is going to be amazing!
The first 4 episodes of this broadcast will be a compilation of the previous episodes, and the rest will be new episodes, so it will be very friendly to first-time viewers.
What is the significance of telling the story again from the very beginning? If you think about it, it might be interesting for you to predict how far the story will go and what kind of mountains will appear.
Koharu, who did not appear in the third season due to the length of the show, is played by Eimiri Iwai, who was selected by the anime staff from the early stages of the audition process as the best actress to play the role. The anime staff had been waiting for her to play the role since the early stages of the audition.
When the time came for her to voice the character, we were amazed at how cute she was and how annoying she was.

The airing date of "Yamanosume Next Summit" has finally been decided.
It started as a 3-minute short anime slot, then expanded to 10 minutes per episode in the second season, and finally became a 30-minute program in this Next Summit.
As the director, I am deeply moved by the growth of Aoi and Hinata.
I was also very moved by the fact that there was such a long gap between the last show and this one, so I wondered if people would remember what we had talked about so far. I was also worried that people who had never seen it before might not be able to get into it easily. I was worried about whether people who had never seen the show before would be able to easily get into it, but now, to my surprise, I have been allowed to make an edited "look back" version up to the third season.
I think that the process of compiling the three seasons has given me the valuable experience of taking a fresh look at the story of "YAMANOSUME. It is not just a digest, but also includes a gorgeous (?) new short story as a bonus. I hope you will enjoy it as well.
And after the review is over, we will be back with a brand new Yamanosumé film, full force and in full throttle!
In Next Summit, as the title implies, we aim to reach the next summit of the story. The season starts in winter, the continuation of the third season, so it is off-season, but Aoi and her friends are climbing mountains as much as they can. (Of course, we staff also climbed with them! ) The story also includes the introduction of a new character, Koharu, a date with Hikari, the first sunrise of the year, Hatsumode, Valentine's Day, and ・・・・ (hereafter referred to as "secret").
I am happy to report that despite the blanks, production is progressing with the support of a full team, including the old staff who willingly cooperated with us, as well as the new staff who have come to join us. (Even so, it's still a tough job as usual......)
I am very happy to be able to direct a film that has been loved by fans and staff for such a long time.
I hope you will continue to follow the story of Aoi and Hinata to the end!
