Mobile Suit Gundam: The Island of Cruz Doan" to be released on June 3, 2022 (Friday); theme song will be "Ubugoe" by Hiroko Moriguchi!

Hiroko Moriguchi's "Ubugoe" has been chosen as the theme song for "Mobile Suit Gundam: Cruculous Doan's Island," which will be shown nationwide on June 3, 2022 (Friday).

The 15th episode of "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Island of Cruculus Doan," the milestone of Japanese robot animation and the origin of Gundam, was broadcast in 1979. The episode, known as a masterpiece among fans, drew fans' attention with its depiction of the melancholy of war through the interaction between the main character, Amuro Ray, and Doan, a deserter from the Zeon army, who is a hostile enemy.

Directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, character designer and animation director of the TV series "Mobile Suit Gundam" and creator of the hit "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin," which has sold more than 10 million copies. Other famous staff members have also been assembled.

Director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko realized his own dream over 40 years ago! I am filled with emotion at the reunion with episode 15 "The Island of Cruz Doan," which has been lingering in my mind since that time, and at the fact that the director fulfilled my dream of "singing the theme song even though I am in my 50s. Ubugoe," with lyrics by Goro Matsui, depicts the emotions of a young girl, Carla. I was shaken by her small but big motherly heart taking care of her young children. The magnificent melody by doubleglass and the gentle and beautiful arrangement by Keiichi Tomita seemed to sink into this wounded earth. Because there is no certain tomorrow, we must live through the present to the fullest. I sang this song with a prayer for the days without conflict, surrounded by love.

<Story

Amuro and his White Base squadron, preparing for the Odessa Operation, are assigned to a mission to search for remaining counter-intelligence personnel (soldiers who remain in enemy territory to conduct subversive intelligence activities) on an uninhabited island called "Island of No Return". While conducting a search, Amuro encounters a Zaku and is taken prisoner. When Amuro wakes up, he sees a man who calls himself "Cruz Doan" and 20 children.
