I knew a knight had to look like this!" I made the Outsideron that comes with the novel "NG Knight Ramune & 40 FX" Vol.2, Exciting Set! Taiyuki's Weekend Plastic Modeling Vol. 54
When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!
The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.
So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! Let's start the 54th issue!
Vol. 54 [With Plastic Model Kit "Outsideron"] "NG Knight Ramune & 40 FX" Lower Volume, Exciting Set
It has been about 4 months ...... since we reviewed the plastic kit of "NG Knight Ramune & 40 FX" Glanzkasher last December. Thank you for your patience! Finally, the second part of the novel with the Outsideron kit is now available!
The novel "NG Knight Ramune & 40FX (F-Cross)", newly developed on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of "Ramune & 40" in 2020, is a story right after the OVA "DX". Not only can readers read a new story while maintaining the atmosphere of those days, but depending on the contents of the set, it is a surprising product that also comes with the new generation knight "Outsideron" and a newly developed PC game.
The people in charge of the project were so passionate about the product that they launched their first plastic kit project, so there is no doubt about the quality of the product!
So, let us introduce you to the highly anticipated aircraft (←da-sider-like pun) "Outsideron"!
⇒It's sure to be more-than-hot-blooded! We assembled the "Granscacher" from the latest "NG Knight Ramune & 40FX"! [Taiyuki's Weekend Plastic Model No. 42
First of all, the package. Again, the illustration is by Kotaro Ando (Studio GS).
Like the "Granskasher," the design of the box depicts the profile of the Outsider-Ron floating in glossy black and the whole body of the Outsider-Ron in front of it.
However, since Outsideron's body color is "black," it has a different atmosphere from the Glanzkasher, even though the package design is consistent with the Glanzkasher.
On the side is the Outsideron mark and the logo of "Plastic Act" x "NG Knight Ramune & 40".
As explained in our review of the Glanzkasher, hobby manufacturer PLUM provided full cooperation in making this kit! Using PLUM's original plastic kit series "PLAACT" as a base, the smooth development of the Outsideron was made possible.
And here is an image CG of the Outsideron. This time, because it is an "accessory to a novel," there is no barcode or other information, and it is smartly put together.
The number of runners is as you can see. The Granscacher was based on the Plastic Act "Goblin King" with new runners and stickers added, but the Outsideron is based on the Plastic Act "Ambrosius" with new runners and stickers added.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the person in charge of this project who took the trouble to develop four runners for this project! (I hear it's quite hard work to make the molds.)
A special instruction manual is included. (I hear it's quite hard to make molds.) The instruction manual comes with a special one, and it also includes color recipes.
The plastic parts have been renewed since the beginning of the series and are very easy to assemble, so let's quickly assemble them!
"Dewwah!
This is it! This is the New Generation knight, Outsideron!
This is the completed figure with the main body assembled and stickers attached. The color scheme is exactly that of the "Queen Cideron". Each part of the figure is covered with "knightly" armor. The red jewel on the chest and golden ornaments also remind us of the Queen Cideron of the past.
The figure can be assembled without glue, but there are some parts that tend to come off while moving the figure, so I glued them partially (specifically the shoulder armor). (Specifically, the gray armor on the shoulder armor and the blue parts on both sides of the legs.)
If you are a painter, paint the parts before gluing them.
The clean back without a backpack is also typical of the Queen Cideron.
The big difference from the Queen Cidaron is the large skirt armor on the waist.
New parts are concentrated on the upper body. Especially, the design of the head is based on the Queen Sidaron's preparatory draft, so I confirmed the design on p. 147 of a book I had on hand ("Ramune & 40 Series Memorial Book: Fierce and Hot Blooded Compendium" published by Shinkigensha)! I was so impressed with the design! I was more than a little impressed.
The spiral design on the side of the head is different from the TV version.
The riveted parts seen on the front of the waist and other parts have three patterns, and the "3" part on the "Outsideron B" runner in particular was designed with the "Q" motif. You should be aware of the "Q" in the angle when attaching to each part. If you make a mistake in orientation, it will end up as a power symbol for a PC or other device (laughs).
The molded colors and numerous riveted parts make the image very different from the base kit, which is also a high point. Nice rivets!
Now let's take a look at the range of motion.
The basic frame is exactly the same as the Glanzkasher, so the range of motion is also the same as long as the armor and other parts do not interfere with each other. The neck is a poly part with double ball joints, so the head can also move smoothly.
Shoulder joints are a hybrid of axial and ball joints.
Shoulders on the body side swing forward.
The waist connection is ball-jointed and the upper body has a large forward bending movement.
The ball-joint connection at the waist also allows for 360° rotation.
As you can see, the legs can be opened wide in lateral and forward/backward directions. The skirt armor also moves widely, so it does not interfere with the leg movement.
Roll rotation axes on the arms.
Elbows are double-jointed and can be bent to nearly 180 degrees.
The wrists are ball-jointed and can move freely.
Knees are double-jointed.
Ankles are ball-jointed. Together with the high mobility of the leg openings, the grounding is high.
Looking at the range of motion, you can imagine that she can be posed for action poses quite freely.
Let's take a look at some action poses.
She is in a fighting pose with her wrists in flattened hands!
Thanks to the high grounding of the ankles and the holding power of the polypropylene parts, the figure can stand on its own even when high-kicked.
She can also stand on one knee without difficulty.
Let's also equip her with a large sword and a shield.
When equipped, they will look like this. The Queen Cideron has a spear-like weapon, so the large sword was an unexpected piece of equipment, but it is dynamic and nice!
Outsideron handles the huge weapon with one hand. Each joint has a high holding power.
He is a very strong man! Let's do it!"
A dynamic figure wielding the weapon with force.
The shield area is also quite large.
I'm 100,000 years too young to try to beat you!
It looks somewhat like a victory pose in a fighting game.
On the underside of the waist, there is an axle hole for connecting a commercially available base.
If they were fighting in the Dokidoki space, would they have drawn a floating figure like this?
Rushing forward, wielding a great sword!
Da sider, keeeeek!"
"Darling, that's really Lider Jean! You might get angry!
As mentioned earlier, since this kit is based on the "Ambrosius," the nightsword can actually be assembled and fit into the shield.
Outsideron pulls the nightsword out of the shield.
Nahhhh! I knew a knight had to be like this!"
Darling! You're still brilliant even if you're in 2025!
There are only this many extra parts, so please use them as you wish.
Now then, here is the usual "extra touch"!
Looking at the settings, I would have liked to paint at least the gold lines on each part and the silver edge of the shield. So I simply painted them!
The shield was painted with "Surfacer Evo (Silver)" by Gaianotes after masking to make use of the blue molding color.
The gold lines were partially painted with "Gundam Marker White Gold" by GSI Creos.
The shield was painted using the molded color, so that if there were any masking leaks, I could just scrape them off or wipe them off with a solvent, which made painting much easier both in terms of work and feelings.
The gold lines on the arms and shoulders were painted using Gundam markers. By utilizing the molded color in this area, I was able to easily paint parts of the body by using the Gundam Marker's "eraser pen" or scraping off any overhangs.
The addition of the bright "white gold" color gave the figure a brighter impression than when unassembled.
If you are particular about the color, you may want to use the same color paint for the treasure ball on the chest.
As with the other parts of the figure, I painted the lines on the shin armor with a "no overspill" attitude, and then wiped off or scraped off the overspill.
After painting, I added action poses!
Outsideron swinging his greatsword down.
The effect of painting the shield is great. The line on his shoulder is also shiny, and I think it adds a nice accent to the figure.
I also let him hold the nightsword. The crossed out pose is cool!
But with this one, I can't get a grip on the shield. ...... I thought, "Then, let's fix it to the arm!
I replaced the grip with a joint part from a surplus part and ......
Mounted it on the forearm of the left arm, where one rivet was removed!
Yup, yup, yup. I think Queen Cideron also had a shield fixed to her arm in the play, so it's rather nice, isn't it?
Now that the left wrist is free, it is possible to use a flat hand for expression!
Personally, I like having the shield fixed because it makes it easier to decide on the action.
At the Heart of Love...... Bad Space......
Darling! I'm not going to go any further Jean!"
With the shield also equipped, it is now possible to use an irregular two-bladed sword.
Even with the two sword (second-class) style, you still win first prize for coolness!"
Oh, plus there are two more places that have been modified with a little effort.
The side skirt armor has plastic parts for the connections when assembled according to the instructions, but I actually found a poly part "1" that had almost the same shape, so I replaced it with that one. This made it easier to hold the side skirt armor in a slightly raised position, as you can see.
I would like to put it side by side with the previously released Glanzkasher (photo on the left).
However, as many of you may have learned about the Glanzkasher in this article, this one has already been discontinued.
Personally, if I may express only a really personal hope, I hope that there is a chance to obtain it once more: .......
So, for the last time, please take a look again at the fully painted Outsideron (test shot) that appeared in the Glanzkascher article.
I think the bold black paint job on the body and the metallic paint job on the rest of the body is very crisp and clear.
The stickers were not included in the test shot, so they were reproduced with lappy tape and paint. The green treasure ball part is replaced with clear parts.
The gold lines are painted gold on the armored parts first, then the black is painted with masking tape on the lines.
I hope this will be a consideration for those who are going to try painting.
Well, with this Outsideron, the 30th anniversary project of "NG Knight Ramune & 40" has come to an end. We would like to thank the many people involved in this project for their hard work. Thank you very much.
I hope "FX" will be made into a sound drama as well. I hope they will make a sound drama of "FX" as well...and maybe the CD will be accompanied by a plastic kit .......
Sorry, I'm just a fan! I'm just a fan, and I've been imagining whatever I want. ......
See you again with the next kit!
