Children's Day Commemoration! Mobile Suit Gundam: The Island of Cruz Doan" special visual & comments from the island's children cast, Yuma Uchida and others!

The movie "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Island of Cruz Doan," which is scheduled for a nationwide roadshow on June 3, 2022 (Friday), has received special visuals and comments from Yuma Uchida (who plays Marcos) and Fuu Hirohara (who plays Kara) on behalf of the "children of the island" on May 5, Children's Day.

The special visual released this time was created by Atsushi Tamura, character designer and chief animation director.
It depicts the daily life of Cruz Doan and the war orphans with a soft touch.

In commemoration of Children's Day, comments were also received from the two actors playing "Marcos and Carla," who are the oldest of the children on the island and are the leaders of the children.

Yuma Uchida / Comment as Marcos

I was very happy to be able to participate in this production, which is also the origin of the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series. Marcos is a little older than the other children on the island and the same age as Amuro. He always wants to be like Doan and be powerful, but through Amuro he realizes that he doesn't have that power yet, and I felt that he is a frustrated and conflicted young man on the verge of becoming an adult. However, I think it is wonderful to see a character who is troubled and confronts his problems and finds a way to protect what is important to him.

This film has a particularly strong human drama element, and I would be happy if you could pay attention to the children on the island who are trying their best to live their lives.

Fuu Hirohara / Comment on the role of Kara

When I first opened the script, I realized that I could really be involved in a work called "Gundam".

Kara is a 16-year-old girl, but I was conscious of making her a girl who lives in the harsh world of war, rather than a modern girl, so it was very difficult to express the slightly mature and somewhat dark atmosphere in her heart that a girl living in the current era would not have. In this work, the emotional changes and influences on each character are very delicately depicted, making it a very moving piece of work.

I hope that you will be able to feel the emotions that I felt at the theater.
