Akiba Research Institute's official voting project "Just before the broadcast! Summer Anime Popularity Poll" will start on June 8, 2022 (Wed.). Voting will close on June 22.

This summer, 54 works were entered, 10 more than last summer. Many of them are original or limited distribution anime, while the number of "other world x reincarnation" anime, which has become a standard in recent years, seems to be a little low.

The one that drew the most attention from readers at Akiba Research Institute was "BASTARD! -The work was published in the late 1980s under the title of "Weekly Shukai (Weekly Work) ". This work was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in the late 1980s. It is a legendary dark fantasy that has been published in different magazines since then and continues to this day. The spin-off "Kake Kegurui-Sou," featuring Meari Saotome, one of the main characters in the popular gambling work "Kake Kegurui," has also been attracting attention.
Both of these works are exclusive to Netflix, which has been releasing a succession of unique anime, so it will be interesting to see how far they can go in attracting the support of anime fans. It will be interesting to see how much support they can garner from anime fans.
