Ojiro Makoto's latest work "Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia" to be adapted to TV anime! Produced by Raiden Film

The TV anime "Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia" will be broadcast in 2023.

Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia" is the latest work by Ojiro Makoto, a leading manga artist of adolescence ("Fujiyama-san wa shounen-ki" etc.), and is currently serialized in "Weekly Big Comic Spirits". Set in Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture, it depicts the coming-of-age story of Maruta Nakami, a high school boy suffering from insomnia, and Isaki Kyoku, a high school girl suffering from the same problem.

The key visual of the TV anime shows Maruta and Isaki walking in the town of Nanao under a beautiful starry sky. The first PV features a lot of scenery from the high school Maruta and Isaki attend, and the scene at the astronomical observatory that serves as their "secret base" is also impressive. The accompaniment is by "True Criminal Flag" and "HIQUE! and "HIQUE! and "HIQ!", which accentuates the work's worldview.

In the PV, the cast and character voices of Maruta and Isaki are also revealed for the first time. Maruta is played by Motoi Sato ("Dr. Stone" Chrome, "Boundary Warfare Machine" Amou Shiiba, etc.), and Isaki by Yoshi Tamura ("Alice Fiction" Achilles, etc.). The animation is produced by Raiden Film, directed by first-time director Yuki Ikeda, with series composition and script by Rintaro Ikeda and character design by Hiroki Fukuda.

This is the first time for me to work on an anime, so I'm not used to it, but I'm surprised every day at how the production team's love for the original work is so strong.
Both Motoi Sato, who played Ganta, and Yoshi Tamura, who played Isaki, fit the role perfectly, as if their voices were reproduced exactly as they sounded in my head when I was writing the script. The beautiful scenery of Noto, including Nanao City in Ishikawa Prefecture, where the film is set, can be seen in color. I am now looking forward to seeing the fresh atmosphere portrayed by director Ikeda and his young and fresh staff.

I had originally read this work and was especially saved by every word of Isaki's. So when I passed the audition, I was happy for a moment and then immediately asked my manager, "Who's Isaki? Who is Isaki? I asked who was playing the role of Isaki rather than myself (laugh).
When I was reading the book, I had the impression that it was a work that warmly enveloped my feelings of loneliness and frustration and gently rubbed my back.
As for the play, I am conscious of becoming more log-like, aiming to play the role in an ultimately natural way.
I believe that people of all ages will enjoy it while sympathizing with various things, as you can feel the super pure love in the story.

I will be playing the role of Kyoku Isaki. My name is Yoshi Tamura.
My first audition was for the role of Kyoku Isaki, the heroine of "Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia". Everything was so new to me that I was beyond happy and in a panic.
I couldn't sleep, I was anxious, but she seemed to be telling me that I was not alone, and I always cried when I finished the book.
The delicate and naive worldview depicted by Mr. Ojiro Makoto is precious, and I read the book all the way through to the latest edition. Maruta's clumsy but straightforward character, Isaki's cheerful but somewhat melancholy behavior. Even without words, the atmosphere, the way they look at each other, and the scenes they choose all grab my heart and make me feel sweet and sour.
With the support of many people, I will live out the role of Kyoku Isaki with all my might. Thank you very much for your support.
