Finally, the distribution of promising works has begun and they have become very popular, but is there still a sense of uneasiness? The April New Anime in China [Anime Situation of Chinese Otaku] (Japanese only)
My name is Baiyuan Kagoyamo, and I am introducing various topics related to the otaku situation in China.
This time, I would like to introduce the trends of new Japanese anime for April distributed on Chinese video sites, as well as the generation gap that has recently become clear among Chinese otaku and its effects.
Even though the distribution of the anticipated April titles has finally begun and they have become very popular, does this not change your concerns about the future?
Even after the start of the April season, the distribution schedule of Japanese anime in China has been unstable, and the question remains as to when the distribution of new anime will begin, or whether it will even be distributed in the first place. In particular, "SPY×FAMILY" has been a major source of anxiety in the Chinese market.
In particular, the April new releases such as "SPY x FAMILY" and"Kaguya-sama ga Kesshirasai -Ultra Romantic-," which were highly anticipated in the Chinese otaku community, remained unannounced, causing some anxiety and dissatisfaction to build up.
Then, just before the Golden Week holidays in early May, "SPY x FAMILY" and"Kaguya-sama ga Kesshirasai - Ultra Romantic" were finally released, and there was a sense of relief in the Chinese otaku community.
After that, some works that had been announced in advance but had not yet begun distribution, and others that had not been announced suddenly began distribution, and Chinese otaku commented, "I was anxious at the beginning of April.
One Chinese otaku commented, "I was worried at the beginning of April, but it looks like there will be a good number of new anime for April distributed in China in the end. The situation is not as bad as we initially expected."
He said.
Among the works that began distribution late, the popularity of "SPY x FAMILY" is said to have grown tremendously, and on bilibili, which distributes in China, the popularity exploded immediately after distribution began, and within a month the number of views exceeded 100 million, and continues to grow. Some people in the Chinese otaku community are saying, "If it continues at this rate, it will be the biggest hit of the year." Some Chinese otaku are even saying, "If it continues at this pace, it will be the biggest hit of the year.
As of the time of writing this column in early June, in addition to "SPY x FAMILY," there are also "Kaguya-sama ga Kesshirasai -Ultra Romantic-," "Abaren-san wa hakarenai," "Otome-gaeri ga Hakerenai," and "Otome-gaeriga Kakurenai," as well as "SPY x FAMILY" and "Kakurenai ga Kakurenai. In addition to "SPY x FAMILY," " Kaguya-sama gaKeshirasanai -Ultra Romantic-," "Otome Game Sekai wa Mobu ni Hashiru Sekai Desu Desu" and"Otome Game Sekai wa Mobu ni Hashiru Desu" are all doing well.
However, even though the situation is "not as bad as initially expected," there are still concerns about the future.
Not all of the works that were expected to be available in China can be seen, and "Paripi Komei," which has been the topic of much discussion in China, is still not being distributed in mainland China. In addition, there have been stronger deletion and correction of the content of various works than before the tightening of regulations last year, including correction of romantic elements in romantic comedies such as "Kaguya-sama ga Tsurenasake" (The Lady Wants to Tell You She Wants to Be Told).
As reported in Japan, there has recently been talk of easing restrictions on IT companies, which have been rapidly becoming more severe in China in recent years, but it remains unclear how this will affect the entertainment sector.
In addition, considering the impact of the large-scale restrictions on specific fields and genres that have often occurred in China in the past, there is a possibility that once the restrictions are in place, the field will not attract people back and may not be as exciting as it once was .......
Some Chinese geeks, who have experience with past restrictions, have commented that
However, I don't know if the previously booming areas will be able to regain the same momentum. In China, there is a belief that entertainment can be easily regulated, so if there is already a precedent, it is likely to be something that will be dealt with harshly. ......"
It is difficult to be optimistic about how Japanese content will be treated in China in the future.
