That Reaver that blasted off at the beginning of the movie version of "Pato 1" is finally available as a plastic kit! I tried to make MODEROID "HAL-X10" look realistic by weathering! Taiyuki's Weekend Plastic Modeling Vol. 56

When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!

The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.

So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! The 56th issue of the series has begun!

MODEROID HAL-X10

The kit introduced this time is a large item from the MODEROID series, the "HAL-X10.

More than 30 years have passed since the release of the movie version of "Mobile Police Patlabor," and the long-awaited plastic kit version of the model has finally arrived. The figure in the movie, kicking off the Self-Defense Forces' "Hell Diver" Reaver unit while running amok, had a huge impact on those who saw it.

The large package depicting the impact of the action is an eye-catching feature of this item. Please take a look!

The package depicts a mysterious figure in a forest at night, its eyes shining brightly.

The lid is illustrated for either vertical or horizontal display.

The back of the package contains an introduction to the kit's gimmick.

On the top and bottom, the "PATOLABOR" logo is placed against the impressive "BABEL" text that also appeared in the play.

The number of runners alone may seem surprisingly small, but the larger runners are very large. The camera part of the head comes with two types of parts: painted and unpainted.

The four legs have a fair number of parts, but the body is made up of parts that can be assembled with a gun. It is not difficult to assemble, although it will take some time. I was surprised at how big the finished product is with such a small amount of assembly. I was surprised.

The front part of the fuselage is asymmetrical. The head and gun barrels are positioned.

The antenna parts are not made of soft resin, so they are sharply finished.

Additional parts are attached to the rear of the fuselage.

Can you tell the overall size from the size of the head?

The reproduction of this color scheme without painting is amazing.

The head is designed to look like a Hell Diver with enhanced sensors. The body is equipped with many features, including a smoke discharger.

On the tip of the body, there is a thin clear part, like a blinker.

On the underside of the fuselage, at the base of the legs, you can see clear parts of sensors arranged in a triangular shape. The hook parts seen above it are fixed, but have been reproduced with fine parts.

Various structures are mounted on the upper surface of the fuselage, making it very lively. And clear parts are placed on the fine sensor parts.

The shape of the ducts for additional units connected to the rear of the aircraft is also very atmospheric. The antenna parts should be handled with care so as not to break.

An additional block extends further rearward. It may be used to carry spare fuel or other items.

The four legs look like crustaceans.

The cannon seems rather huge for a raver's equipment.

From the bottom, the legs are arranged like this: four legs, but they still look like crabs.

The turret swings up and down. The head is connected with ball joints, so it can be moved up and down, left and right.

The retractable hatch under the head opens to reveal the cockpit, which is sculpted exactly as it is in the movie.

The legs are connected to the movable shafts at the base of the legs, and can be moved quite a bit.

Legs fully extended.

The same state with the full height held down. This action is not possible with the humanoid Reaver.

There is a roll axis near the base of the legs.

The elbows of the front legs have a telescopic gimmick and can be bent deeply when extended.

Both front and rear leg claws can be opened and closed. They can be used to attack enemy reavers.

The nozzles between the claws on the front legs can also be moved slightly.

The fin parts located on the left and right sides of the fuselage can be deployed to recreate the hovering state. This was a very impressive part of the movie.

As long as the three legs are on the ground, it can stand, so it can be posed as if it were attacking an enemy with one arm.

By assembling the clear pedestal parts, it can be displayed in its high-speed hovering state.

It moves at a high speed unmatched by bipedal Reavers, dodging and performing Hell Diver's pursuit.

The rear additional block consists of two parts and can be split.

In the play, it was purged by being hit by a bullet.

The details of the connection parts are also well reproduced. No corners have been cut.

The form with the rear parts purged. It should be a little more compact, but it still has a good volume thanks to the four legs.

In the movie version, it was walking or hovering, but by replacing the parts inside the legs, it is possible to reproduce a running form using rollers.

The movie version was in the woods, so this is a mode we never got to see.

Plus a little extra!

This product also comes with water-transfer decals, so you can apply weathering (washing) after attaching them.

By staining the entire model with GSI Creos' "Grand Brown" weathering color, the vividness of the red is reduced and the austerity of the color is increased.

If you apply the weathering while being conscious of the direction in which the stain drips and flows, it will settle into a natural atmosphere.

This time, weathering is applied after sticking the matte clear once after attaching the decal. The weathering color will remain in the matte clear layer, so if you wipe it off with moderate force, you can wipe off the stain without damaging the decal.

The thruster portion of the hover section should be smeared well.

The letters "X-10" also smeared nicely. Be careful not to rub the decals too hard or they may peel off.

The base of the additional block is also packed with detail, so the weathering color that went into the detail looks good. It may have looked clean to begin with, but when I think about what it did after the runaway, I still want to deface it like this.

Now, MODEROID's "PATLABOR" series has become quite complete. Speaking of the movie version, we are about to start looking forward to the release of the Reaver Carrier.

It looks like there will be many more Reaver-based kits in the future. It is a happy time.

So, finally, let me leave you with a comparison of the size of this kit with my face. Please look forward to the next article!
