A new project, "swing,sing", is a series of interviews with the characters to support the start of the project. This is a series of interviews with the characters of "swing,sing" to support the start of the project!

swing, singing" is a graffiti of youth amidst the aroma of jazz and coffee, set in the cafe "Primrose" in the resort town of Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture.

Violet Yaotome, a student at a music school in the city, transfers to a school in Karuizawa to escape the busy city life. When she arrives at her lodgings, the Primrose Cafe, she is asked by Momose Momo, the owner of the cafe, to help her save the cafe, which is on the verge of bankruptcy.

Violet and her friends take up instruments left behind by Momose's grandfather, the former owner, and play music as they aim for a loan on the café.

Aki Izumi, who has worked on numerous contents, will write the original story, Hirotaka Hayakawa, a composer who won the Record Award in 2018, will produce the music, Eito Higashiyama will design the characters, and Toriyaro, who will make his commercial debut with this work, will do the comic book adaptation.

Starting with the unveiling event to be held on May 29, 2022, the manga serialization will begin, and the digital release of the overall song "Harmony" and character songs will start simultaneously. In order to support this work, which has various live events scheduled in the future, Akiba Research Institute has started a series of interviews with the main characters and a present project!

In the fourth installment of this series, we will introduce Yuri Amabane, a multi-player who is proud, competitive, and strong in her beliefs, but also loves her friends more than anyone else.

─ Please introduce yourself.

Yuri, my name is Yuri Amabane. I'm a junior at Shin-Karuizawa High School, and my birthday is January 22. Also, ......... Did I miss anything?

I heard that your father is a famous violinist.

Yuri: Yes, I'm sure there are many other famous violinists in Japan, but my father, Hayato Amou, is a member of the largest philharmonic orchestra in Japan and is the best violinist around here.

─ I heard that you are also the head of the brass band club.

Yuri: Our school doesn't have a club where you can play the violin, so I belong to the brass band club. When I joined the club, we couldn't even make it past the prefectural competition, but within a year we were able to make it into a club that competes for gold medals at the national level. By the way, I'm in charge of the contrabass, though I sometimes swing the conductor's baton.

─ You are in your third year, have you already decided on your career path?

Yuri U...... why are you asking me like a teacher? I have received many letters of recommendation to music universities in Tokyo, but I don't really feel like I'm ready. Well, either way, I don't have to study for entrance exams, so I'm just taking it easy until the fall or so.

───Please tell us about your encounter with jazz and why you were attracted to it.

Yuri: I haven't really listened to jazz music until recently. Oh, but there was a time when I was practicing gypsy jazz on acoustic as a way of playing. Jazz strings are quite difficult to play. It's not exactly what drew me to jazz, but I feel that playing jazz has helped me to improve myself.

─ ─ Do you have a favorite masterpiece?

Yuri: Well, I listen to a lot of classical music, so I don't actually listen to much. ...... I used to practice the gypsy jazz I mentioned earlier, like Duke Ellington's "Caravan".

This is fusion, but T-SQUARE's "Treasure Island" and "Omens of Love" are also popular in our club, and I like to listen to them personally. I also used to play the electone when I was little, and I used to play it a lot too.

─ ─ I heard that various players gather at the Primrose Cafe to perform. How do you like playing at the cafe?

Yuri: Well, I'm just helping Momo as the head of the club so that she can come back to the club activities as soon as possible, right? It's true that it's fun as a player to have sessions and think freely about solos, unlike club activities where you have to play exactly according to the score and pitch. ...... Oh, I'm just helping out, you know!

I'll make sure Momo comes back when the cafe is running well!

─ ─ Do you have any ambitions for the future regarding your musical activities, or any dreams of doing something like this?

Yuri: Of course! Winning a national gold medal with my brass band! Well, if I leave, I don't know if we'll make it to the nationals, right? For that, I have to get the café back on its feet!

─ ─ Finally, do you have any comments for the readers of Akiba Research Institute?

Yuri, I'm only helping out for a limited time, so you'll regret it if you don't get here soon. I'll be waiting for you at Primrose!
