Atsumare Animal Crossing" opens "Bunkatsu Island" where you can enjoy Japanese art such as "Mirekawari Bijin" (a beautiful woman who turns her back)! A guide video is also available!

Bunkatsu Island" of the National Center for Cultural Properties, National Institutes for Cultural Heritage (Bunkatsu) was opened to the public today, August 18, in "Atsumare Animal Crossing" on Nintendo Switch.

Bunkatsu Island" consists of about 10 areas with motifs of cultural properties from the Jomon Period to the modern age owned by the National Institutes for Cultural Heritage, including "Haniwa (terra-cotta tomb figurines): Dancing People," "Looking Back at Beauty" (Hishikawa Shisen), "Yatsuhashi Makie Raden Inkstone Box" (Ogata Korin), "Scenes in and Out of Kyoto" (Funaki Hon), "Lake Side" (Kuroda Seiki), "Hari Monsho" and "Onigawara (devil's tile). The exhibition consists of about 10 areas.

The exhibition is designed to allow visitors to experience a part of the rich world of Japanese cultural properties in the world of "Atsumare Animal Crossing".


In conjunction with the "Dancing Haniwa (terra-cotta tomb figurines) & Mikaeribijin (Mikaeribijin-like kimono) Restoration Project" (*2) currently being undertaken by Bunkatsu and the Tokyo National Museum, new My Designs are also available, such as "Odoru Haniwa-bou" and "Mikaeribijin-like kimono". Wear them as you tour around Bunkatsu Island.

1 National Institutes for Cultural Heritage
1 The National Institutes for Cultural Heritage consists of seven institutions: Tokyo National Museum, Kyoto National Museum, Nara National Museum, Kyushu National Museum, National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, Tokyo, Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, and Asia-Pacific Research Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The Center for Utilization of Cultural Properties and the Disaster Prevention Center for Cultural Properties are established at the headquarters.


2 This is a cultural property restoration project to collect donations from the public for expenses related to the restoration of cultural properties in the Tokyo National Museum collection, including two representative masterpieces of the museum, "Dancing People in Haniwa Terra-cotta Tomb Figures" and "The Beautiful Woman Looking Back".
The project was launched in April of this year, the 150th anniversary of the founding of the museum, with the idea of "passing on important cultural properties to the future with everyone's power.
