Rainbow Six Siege Year 7 Season 3 Advance Play Report! New Operator "GRIM" to control small bots, information on new maps, and more!

On August 22, 2022, information about Rainbow Six Siege's Year 7 Season 3 "Operation Brutal Swarm" ("Brutal Swarm") was released. This content includes a new operator, GRIM ("Grim"), and various other new elements. Ubisoft has allowed me to play the latest season of the game, so I will introduce the contents of "Brutal Swarm" and share my impressions of the new operators, maps, and other features.

The author's experience with "Brutal Swarm" was during the testing phase, so please understand that some of the contents may differ when the game is officially implemented.

Grim, an operator who can detect enemies with his winged robot

Grim, newly added this season, is an operator on the attacker's side. His main weapons are the 552 Commando assault rifle and the SG-CQB shotgun. His subweapon is the "P229" handgun, his main gadget is the "Kawan Hive Launcher," and his sub gadgets are the "Breaching Charge" and "Claymore. Note that the strength and speed are 1 and 3, respectively.

The centerpiece of the grim is the main gadget, the Kawan Hive Launcher. When a capsule is ejected from this gadget, countless winged robots deploy from the point of impact to detect enemies within range. It has a load of five capsules and an effective range of about 2 to 3 meters. In addition to being able to fire at ceilings, walls, and shields deployed by the attacker, the position of an opponent captured by the robots is indicated by a pin on the attacker's side, which is updated up to three times during a certain period of time. The effect lasts for nearly 10 seconds, so once detected, the attacker's movements can be accurately tracked. Even if you miss, you will know that the enemy is not there, so it is not a waste of time.

On the other hand, there are some weaknesses. The ejected capsule deploys a few seconds after impact, making it difficult to use as a trap. The area of effect is not too narrow, but not too wide either. In addition to its characteristic of being difficult to use as a trap, it will be important to work with allies to get some idea of the enemy's location in advance.

In addition, Grim's main gadget may not function in the first place, depending on where it is shot, as it is disabled by the "signal disruptor," the main gadget of MUTE, a defensive type operator, and the MAG-NET system of WAMAI. It is a powerful gadget, but at the same time, it is a gadget that is not easy to use.

New "Stadium Bravo" map

The newly added Stadium Bravo is also the map that appeared in the "Road to S.I." event held in February 2022. It was implemented with the idea that it would be a waste if it could only be played for a limited time.

The map is a combination of the "Border" and "Coastline" maps that have already been implemented in "Rainbow Six Siege," and from what I have seen, there are few obstructions. The terrain is rather intricate and the area is quite small, so it is possible to find yourself on the other side of a wall that has been destroyed and is now outside the area.

In addition, Stadium Bravo is color-coded by area, which makes it easy to know where you are to some extent. However, unlike during the event at the time, the brightness seems to have been adjusted to emphasize brightness and evenly distribute respawn points.

Various updates were identified, including the recoil system.

In addition to the addition of new operators and maps, a number of updates were implemented this time around.

First, let's talk about the balance adjustments. For operators, the performance of Dokkaebi and Rook's main gadgets has been increased; Dokkaebi's "Logic Bomb" now affects eliminated players as well, and players equipped with Rook's "Armor Pack" can now self-revive when down, " Die Hard" can now be used.

In addition, a new gadget, the Impact EMP Grenade, has been added. This gadget can incapacitate nearby electronics for a short time when it explodes, and can be equipped by operators Blackbeard, Montagne, Dokkaebi, Nokk, Gridlock, Sledge, Lion, and Osa.

Several adjustments have been made to the gun's recoil. First, the recoil itself is now adjusted separately for PC and home consoles, with the balance adjusted separately for PC, making it easier for players on home consoles to make fine movements with a gamepad.

Next, a new recoil system was introduced for the PC version. The overall recoil will be revised to suit each gun. For assault rifles and submachine guns, the recoil is divided into three stages, with vertical and horizontal recoil becoming stronger the longer the gun is kept firing. Light machine guns, which can be fitted with high-capacity magazines, seem to have even more intense recoil than the above gun types; in one-on-one battles, "burst shooting," in which the shooter fires in intermittent bursts rather than fully-automatic fire, will be advantageous.

An update was also made to the already implemented "map bang" system. During a match, the system has been changed so that each team eliminates one of each of the five maps and randomly selects a map from 3 to 5. If both teams chose the same map, the remaining four maps would be selected, and if none of the teams made a van, a map would be selected from the five.

Next, the penalties. Players who repeatedly make offensive remarks will have their text chat automatically muted. Once banned, it is impossible to unmute oneself, and messages can still be sent and received, but messages sent by the banned player will only be displayed if the other player unmutes himself or herself. After a certain trial period, the above treatment will be applied to the relevant players for 30 matches. In addition, a player reporting function has been added to match replays. Players who are cheating can now also be reported to the management.

Various other information was also released, including the ability for attackers to view discovered defender bases and other information during the preparation phase, and players who have purchased a Battle Pass can purchase all items in the store at a 10% discount. Many elements have been added to this season, including a distinctive new operator who controls a small robot. The new season, "Brutal Swarm," will be available on September 7, 2022.
