Shinkansen Transforms into a Robot! Trainbot is back in the new "Transformers" "MPG" series! In-depth review of the first Trainbot Shoki, Part 1 [Taiyuki's Toys and Games Vol. 20

As mentioned in the last issue, Shoki is a handsome man. The shape of each part of the robot, which might otherwise be monotonous and flat, is well-detailed, making it a cool robot without being dull.

The "Diaclone" version was also a handsome modeling at the time.

The intake parts on both sides of the "MPG" head are a cool arrangement of the joints on the shoulders of the Diaclone version.

The color scheme and shape of the abdomen and waist are also very cool.

I thought the shape of the side skirts was interesting. ......

I guess it was feedback from the shape of toys available at the time.

The concave line shape of the forearms and thighs has also been carried over.

In this "MPG," the ankles have been sculpted well. This is feedback from the anime.

Even the plate-like parts coming to the sides of the arms are respected. However, while the "Diaclone" version was a ceiling part, the "MPG" version is a side part of the vehicle body.

Also, the cloak-like parts, which were drawn particularly large in the anime, are a feature of the Shoki. It has been well reproduced.

Let's take a look at the range of motion.

The head is connected with ball joints and can move freely. The profile is also handsome.

The shoulder can raise the arm up to the top by the rotation axis. However, because of the cloak, the arms cannot rotate 360 degrees.
Horizontally, the arms can be lifted up to 90°.

Roll rotation is possible with the second arm.

The elbows are double-jointed and can bend 180°.

Wrist can rotate at the base as well as deploy fingers.

Roll rotation is possible at the waist.

The front and rear legs can be opened like this. Front skirt springs forward.

The side skirts also flip up, so the leg opening to the side is as shown.

Roll rotation at the thighs.

The knees are not quite 180°, but they bend deeply for this shape.

The ankles can swing by pulling them out.

The cape can also be slightly deployed. This is a gimmick that will make Shoki look even cooler than in the anime!

Now, let's try some posing!

First of all, Shoki is standing in front of Destron!

I am Shoki!

Of course, the Mach Laser can be held, but this time, as a gimmick original to the toy, the chest parts for Raiden can be attached to the arms as a shield. I see! Cool!

Shoki holds up the Mach Laser while fluttering his cape!

With this thick shield, I'm sure it won't be affected by a few attacks.

The figure is so movable that you can even recreate him holding a gun in each hand, just like this.

Shoki is aiming and shooting with his left arm.
As it happens, one of his eyes is in shadow, which is really cool! Isn't this a truly divine piece of art!

The ankles are also solid, so the high kick is perfect!

The back, which is very mechanical compared to the front, also burns.

Mach laser folded as you can see ......

It can be mounted on the right leg.

The shield can also be mounted on the back in robot form by attaching it inside the same lead vehicle as in vehicle mode.

This way, when viewed from the side, the gap in the back looks much more filled in.

We would love to enjoy posing it forever, but there is still another form of this Shoki, so we will digest the transformation to that form as well.

Please taste the actual transformation for yourself.

Preparing to combine into the Jyu-rengo Senshi Raiden!

Stow the arms and separate the leading part of the bullet train from the main body.

The head is also stowed, and the arms are raised upward in preparation for transformation.

Once deployed, the top portion of the car is flipped upside down and compacted back together.

Now rotate the upper body 180° so that the leading part is in the front.

Both arms are folded and adhered to the body. The cape parts transform into Raiden's distinctive back wings.

Turn the figure around and fold both legs vigorously behind.

Adjust the angle of the wings, and the transformation of the body is now complete.

Finally, attach the chest parts and Shoki is ready to be combined!

I placed the "Diaclone" version next to it, and you can see the difference in size at .......

Incidentally, the "Diaclone" version of the "Tokaido Shinkansen Mach Liner" does not come with wings, but the "DE10 Diesel Locomotive Power Liner", which is the Kaen of the "Transformers" version, does.

The "MPG" version of Shoki has a silhouette of Raiden on the back of its package, and the "MPG" version of Trainbot has been announced one after another. I already had high expectations for Shoki when it was announced, but after actually touching the product, I am convinced that the series will exceed my expectations!

I swear I will continue to follow this until the completion of the "Heavy Allied Warrior Raiden". Takara Tomy, I ask for your continued support in one way or another!
