<Comment from Kunio Okawara, mechanical designer

My children used to play with "Tomica" when they were small. There was a time when I ordered an acrylic display case and displayed it in my child's room. I have always loved cars, so when I was offered the chance to collaborate with "Tomica," which is loved by men and women of all ages and from all over the world, I was very surprised at the opportunity to be a part of this collection, and I was filled with joy as well as with pressure.

I was very happy as well as under pressure to be a part of the collaboration between "Gundam" and "Tomica," so I was asked to design three items: a Gundam, a Zaku for Shia, and a mass-produced Zaku. The first thing that came to my mind was to design a body based on the head, and then add the characteristic parts of a mobile suit and put the whole together. I am not the type of person who thinks this way and that, so I tried to express the image that came to my mind in a straightforward manner. I received suggestions for parts that could not be reproduced in the production of the product, and made corrections. It was a job that I have not had much experience with, and I enjoyed it very much.

Profile
After graduating from Tokyo Zokei University, I worked in the apparel industry before joining Tatsunoko Productions. He was in charge of enemy mechanisms from "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" (1972), and has been active as a mechanical designer ever since. After leaving Tatsunoko Productions, he worked at "Design Office Mecha-Man" and became a freelance designer in 1978, participating in various productions. His representative works include "Yatterman" (1977), "Mobile Suit Gundam" (1979), "Armored Trooper Votoms" (1983), and "Gaogaigar, King of the Braves" (1997).

Chogokin x Zoids" official website: tamashii.jp/special/chogokin/zoids

Liger Zero, the representative machine of the second Zoids series developed in the Heisei era, has been commercialized using a unique Chogokin approach. The concept of "metal life form", the origin of Zoids, was pursued by studying animal skeletons. The "movability of the beast" is reproduced by integrating the technologies BANDAI SPIRITS has cultivated for finished figures, including a leg mechanism for which a Japanese patent has been applied for. In addition, by attaching and detaching the armor, it is possible to reproduce two modes: Zero Unit attached state and bare body state.

Collaboration Project "Dream Together - Connecting Thoughts, Creating Dreams Together

BANDAI SPIRITS and TOMY will launch their first collaboration project "Dream Together - Connecting Thoughts, Creating Dreams Together" in June 2022. The two companies will launch "Chogokin x ZOIDS" and "Tomica x Mobile Suit Gundam," as well as hold events and produce original promotional videos.

The two companies have been deepening communication for many years, hoping to someday work together to do interesting collaborations that would bring dreams and surprises to customers and the industry. The major changes in the world over the past few years have further strengthened this desire, and this collaboration has been realized. Through this project, we will create an entertainment chemical reaction by multiplying the unique brands and contents of the two companies, and deliver exciting dreams from the toy industry.

The catchphrase "Dream Together" was chosen by TOMY to mean "We are together," and the sub-catchphrase "- Connecting Thoughts, Creating Dreams Together" was chosen by TOMY to mean "We are together, sharing dreams. The sub-tagline, "-Thinking Together, Creating Dreams Together" was created by BANDAI SPIRITS to express its desire to deliver dreams to toy fans and the toy industry as a whole through this project.
