When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!
The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.
So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! The 59th issue of the series has started!
59th MODEROID "Super Granzort
Good Smile Company's "MODEROID" series continues to produce plastic kits from various works. Among them, this time we will focus on "Super Granzort," the main mecha from the second half of the TV anime "The Demon King Granzort," along with "Super Winzert" and "Super Aquabeat!
The mecha in this work, which depicts adventures in the world of "Labyruna" on the moon, were designed by Kunio Okawara, who has created many masterpiece robots. The transforming gimmick and design, which allows for a significant change in appearance in a small number of steps, are truly magnificent!
But enough preamble, let's take a look at the package illustration!
It is a powerful illustration of the "Super Eldikaiser," the sword of the god of the earth, clad in flames in the midst of a magic circle.
The runner configuration is as shown. Some painted parts and stickers are included to avoid adding too many parts and still reproduce satisfactory mobility and color separation.
The assembly instructions are easy to read and in full color.
The battle mode (humanoid) is completed when assembled according to the instructions, but let us start with the face mode in order to reproduce the scene in the movie.
The "Zorra Crown" on the forehead is an eye-catching feature of the face mode.
When the main character, Haruka Daichi, summons it with his "magic gun," it appears from within a magic circle. The Zora Crown and eyes are pre-painted. The front view of the figure has been reproduced very well, including the use of clear parts.
The transformation mechanism itself is almost identical to the plastic kit "Plastic Action" version that was released at the time the anime aired. It shows how complete the design and gimmick were; in the MODEROID version, both legs on the back are designed to be fixed in place.
Since there is no gimmick in face mode, we will transform it into battle mode as soon as possible.
Daichi "Granzort, super change!"
The chin slides upward to form the waist armor.
Both legs are deployed from behind, opening the closed ankles and storing the face mode fixing joints on the heels.
Deploy the parts that will become the arms. Slide the arm armor.
Move both arms into position and lower the forehead part of the face mode to hide the face mode eyes.
Roll the Zora Crown around to the back.
Fold the arms and set the Zorra Crown on the back.
Pull out the head of Battle mode and tilt the head horns forward.
Unfold the ornaments on both sides of the head. Transformation complete!
Replace the Zora Crown parts with the movable shape-oriented version to complete the "Super GranZort" Battle Mode.
Here is the Zora Crown for Battle Mode with the shape-oriented version attached. The cloak-like size of the cloak in the anime play is reproduced.
Here is the figure transformed with the Zora Crown attached in Face Mode. The balance of the item is close to the balance of the item when the anime was broadcast, and I think some people would be OK with this version if they want to play with it as a fully transformed figure without replacement.
Upper body.
The magic stone on the forehead and the eyes are painted, and the white parts of the ears are stickers. Mirror stickers are applied under the clear blue parts. The rest of the parts are color-coded by dividing the parts.
Arms and waist. Armor of the arm is color-coded by part division. Similarly to the waist front armor is color-coded by parts division.
The red lines on the legs are also all by parts division. It is amazing that even with such detailed color coding, it all fits together in the same runner configuration as you saw in the beginning.
Zora crown. The center block is color-coded by part division. The parts on both sides, which spread out like a cape, have painted red lines. The deformation arm that connects to the Zora Crown is also compact.
Let's continue to look at the range of motion.
The head has a ball joint connection. When tilted to the left or right, the ear parts interfere with the head, but this is not a problem since the ears can be retracted.
The shoulders are also connected with ball joints and can be moved freely. Care should be taken not to interfere with the shoulder armor and Zora crown, but since the Zora crown can be separated from the back by adjusting the arm, this is not a problem either.
In addition to being ball-jointed, the shoulders can swing up and down and back and forth because of the joints that can be pulled forward.
Arms.
Roll rotation with the two arms. In addition, there is a dividing line on the forearms, which allows for rotation in that area as well. Flexible arm armor and elbow joint orientation can be adjusted when posing.
Elbows are double-jointed. They can be bent deeply.
The waist can also be lightly tilted and ......
Can be rotated.
The front waist armor is connected to the left and right parts by a single axis as it is, but by cutting the axis in the center, it can be moved independently of the left and right parts.
Front and rear legs open. There is not much armor around the legs, so they can be moved widely. The hip joints are connected with ball joints.
Left and right legs can be opened up to this level. The design and sufficient mobility in a small assembly process.
The ball-jointed parts on the thigh side of the hip joints allow for roll-rotation, allowing for a large angle of twist.
Knees are double-jointed.
Ankles are ball-jointed. The toes can be closed for deformation.
There is an axial movement in the ankle for the movement shown in the lower part of the photo.
Here is the Zora crown at its most closed state.
Here is the Zora Crown expanded to its limit.
Although it has been opened wide after the completion of the transformation, it has rarely been opened this wide in the main anime. But it is very powerful.
Some poses.
It was moving like a roller dash with its posture low like this.
There were many iron fist attacks like this as well as Super Eldikaiser and Magic Power.
There were also many jumping kicks from jumps, and I have the impression that there was a lot of fighting in the early stages of the battle in each episode.
More reviews are still to come!
