Bandai is taking on a variety of challenges this year to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Gashapon. We recently visited the headquarters to interview Bandai about it!

In the lobby on the first floor, we were greeted by a large Mamechi made from an empty capsule. I was allowed to sit on a bench with a life-size Major Shah, who was relaxing comfortably, and I was able to take a picture with him. Of course, we also had an interview with him! Please enjoy that in a separate article.

Now, the next issue will be the last regular issue of this year, as it will be a special issue to decide the MVC (Most Valuable Capsuletoy) annual grand prize! As mentioned earlier, we are in the midst of our 45th anniversary year, so let's close with Bandai's Gashapon!

So, this time, we'll be featuring "that" most famous capsule toy figure in Japan that has shone brightly in the history of Gashapon, as well as cute animal performers.

KINKESHI Full Action Special 01 Bandai 500 yen, 8 kinds in total

This monster Gashapon was first released in 1983 and sold 180 million units at the time!

This year, the 45th anniversary of Gashapon, the "KINKESHI" that everyone had, has been powered up into an action figure! The die-cast gold and silver Kinkeshi (no longer a Keshi) released previously was a surprise, but this time it is made of PVC, in the traditional Kinkeshi style, and is fully actionable!
This time it's in PVC, the traditional kinkeshi style!

The figure has 14 joints and can perform special moves at will. You can recreate famous scenes from manga that you have read with great enthusiasm right in front of your eyes. You can even make a scene of a brave hero who dares to dismember himself and then scatters in a spectacular manner.

When I was a child, I wanted to recreate techniques with Kinkeshi, so I used to cut off the entire body with a cutter to make joints, or forcefully recreate techniques with Kinkeshi that could be stretched out like a billon, using all kinds of methods. I'm glad I lived long enough!

The size is slightly larger than Kinkeshi, and it fits in the palm of your hand so you don't feel uncomfortable. It comes in two colors, pale orange and silver. Pale orange (though we didn't call it that at the time) is the most appropriate color for Kinkeshi, isn't it? The silver color also shines with an austere, smoked-silver look.

Let's take a look at the first lineup of superheroes.

Kinnikuman

The capsule is now ready to be assembled. Let's start assembling!

Normally, he is posed in a "goo" pose, but there are also separate parts for grabbing his hands, and he even comes with a special waist part to stabilize him when he is in the position to apply his techniques! Thanks to this, the Kinniku Buster, a special move, is so easy to perform that you don't even need to hang on to it. Perhaps if you put him holding his favorite beef bowl, you may be able to recreate the "Gyudon Ondo" dance: ......?

Oh no! The world is expanding! If you combine the pale orange and silver Kinnikuman, you can recreate a more realistic version of his powered-up appearance. I think it would be a good idea to combine the pale orange with the skin color and the silver with the costume.

Terryman

The handsome Terry is now available with a slightly mischievous expression. Parts for open hands and neck extension are included. I wonder if it will be possible to recreate the legendary "Muscle Docking" technique in the future? While suppressing my excitement with anticipation, I personally think that I would like to paint the pants in their trademark blue color. First of all, I think I will make him wear silver pants.

Robin Mask

Robin has an amazingly massive silver look. In addition to the open hand parts, an extra part, the unicorn head part, is also included. First of all, we would like to make him eat a strong headbutt and complete the tower bridge.

Incidentally, the Robin mask can also be combined with pale orange and silver to complete a tasteful Robin.

Demon Shogun

Here comes a good opponent!

In addition to the open hand parts, an unidentified Goldman Ver. is also included as an extra part.

The presence and sense of fear that emanates from his entire body is irresistible. The Silver Ver is a must have for those who want to recreate the special moves "Jigoku no decapitation", "Jigoku no kujo seimei", and "Jigoku Meguri"!

With such a movable body, it seems possible to create original special moves. This Gashapon toy even has such possibilities!

The last "KINKESHI Full Action Speshee" to appear this year shows Bandai's seriousness and respect for KINKESHI.

Animal Orchestra 01 Bandai 400 yen, 5 kinds in total

An animal orchestra playing musical instruments in good health. We have seen this kind of world many times in fairy tales, but when it becomes a three-dimensional figure, the fantasy is emphasized even more, and a certain beauty is felt. How will Bandai, a company with an established reputation for animal figurines, express them?

●Rabbit

Next year's zodiac sign is the conductor and leader. It looks graceful as it stands tall with its small body and lightly waves its conductor's baton. It shines on the conductor's podium. A small music stand is also included, drawing you into the world of the zodiac.

Panda

The violin looks even smaller when held by the large panda. The way he deftly plays the violin makes him look like a professional. It is adorable to see him play detailed notes while keeping a close eye on the conductor. A small chair that barely supports the violin and a music stand are also included.

Cat

The stoic and straight gaze of the cat holding the horn under his arm as he plays makes us feel "moe" (moe). The drooping ears and legs spread wide suggest that the cat is playing with its whole heart and soul. You can almost hear the tone of their souls.

Squirrel

The idea of replacing the expression on the squirrel's face, which looks like it is stuffed with nuts on both cheeks, with the trumpet performance is excellent. The big tail is also a nice accent! The pose of the squirrel sitting on a chair and holding the instrument with his hand is also very heartwarming.

Gorilla

Who plays the big cello? The large gorilla is the obvious choice to play the big cello! The way the gorilla firmly holds the neck of the cello makes us expect that the cello will produce a good sound. The way he gazes earnestly at the music stand might make a lot of people fall in love with him!

In the real world, there was a time when a handsome gorilla made the headlines, wasn't there? Oh, concentrate on the performance!

I wish this orchestra would perform the "Ninth" at the end of the year!

This year, Bandai entertained us with a variety of corporate collaborations, interesting rings, and revival toys such as the "1/12 Gashapon Station," "Frog Style," and "My Elementary School - Classroom Edition! Please continue to lead the capsule toy industry next year. And we are looking forward to artistic Gashapon that will make us fans say, "Bravo!
