An anime adaptation of "Daigo of Megumi: Orange of Salvation" has been decided. A special report and comments were released.

The original "Daigo of Megumi" was serialized in Shogakukan's "Weekly Shōnen Sunday" from 1995 to 1999, winning the Shogakukan Manga Award in 1996 and the Excellence Award in the Manga Division at the 2nd Japan Media Arts Festival in 1998.

Daigo Asahina, a rookie firefighter, grows into a legendary firefighter by working hard with his friends to protect people's lives and livelihoods at the scene of fires and disasters where lives are threatened every second. During the serialization of the story, the firefighter's activities attracted much attention, and the story was dramatized in 2004.

Daigo of Megumi: Orange of Salvation" is a sequel to "Megumi no Daigo: Orange of Salvation" serialized in "Monthly Shonen Magazine. Today, on the occasion of the release of the sixth volume, it was announced that the series will be adapted into an anime in 2023.

A "special report" commemorating the anime adaptation has also been released on Kodansha's YouTube channel "Full☆Anime TV," as well as on the program's website and SNS.

Special Report Part 1

Daigo of Megumi: Orange for the Kingdom of Salvation" tells the story of three young firefighters, Daigo Juju, Shun Axeda, and Yuki Nakamura, who aim to become members of the "Special Rescue Team" or "Orange", an elite unit within the firefighting organization. Why did they become firefighters? And what is the "past" of each of them? The film depicts the struggles and growth of these three men who have various feelings and aspirations for the same path.

When faced with a "national crisis" of unprecedented disaster or crisis, what wells up in their hearts is a passionate desire, almost an obsession, to protect people's lives and livelihood. The three men, who are friends as well as rivals, are determined to protect as many lives as possible, and their friendly rivalry with each other is a heartwarming and passionate story.

Fans of the previous film will also enjoy the appearance of Shiro Amakasu, who was Daigo Asahina's rival in "Daigo of Megumi.

The "Daigo of Megumi: Orange for the Kingdom of Salvation" depicts with overwhelming realism the activities of firefighters at the scene of fires and disasters and their daily training, which we do not usually see. Keep your eyes peeled for more news.

I have been a fan of the original manga since the previous work "Daigo of Megumi", so when I was offered the chance to adapt the new manga into an anime, I was very happy and accepted without any hesitation.
In the anime adaptation, the disasters depicted in the original manga could have happened in real life, so I would like to portray them as realistically as possible while strongly depicting the passionate hearts of the rescue team members, including Daigo, Shun, and Yuki, as they boldly take on the challenges with courage and a sense of mission.
