Lots of new elements and events starting in January! Overwatch 2 Season 2 Play Report

On December 7, 2022, Season 2 of Overwatch 2 will begin! Season 1, which began with the launch of the service, showed an evolution over its predecessor with the addition of three heroes, each with a different role, five new maps, and a new "Escort" rule, but the upcoming Season 2 will be even more powerful! In this issue, we introduce new heroes, cool skins, and other noteworthy features!

The new tank hero "Ramatla" is now available!

The new tank hero "Ramatla" has been added to the game. He is the leader of the terrorist organization "Null Sector," which is led by Omnic, an AI-equipped robot created by mankind.

Ramatullah was created as a commander-level Omnic during the Omnic Crisis, the war between humans and Omnic that led to the creation of Overwatch. After the Crisis, he became a monk at the Shambali Temple in Nepal, searching for a way to coexist with humanity.

Ramatulla builds a brotherly relationship with Zenyatta, whom he meets outside the temple, and trains with the same beliefs, but he realizes that coexistence is impossible because humanity has rejected the omnic. So, along with his fellow omnicos, he turns against humanity and stands up as the leader of the terrorist organization Null Sector,...... a character with a sad backbone.

Ramatullah, who has become an enemy of humanity, has parted ways with Zenyatta, who was like a brother to him, but when both are on the same team, we can enjoy their unique interactions, such as reminiscing and watching Zenyatta try to understand Ramatullah's grief.

Also, when teamed up with Bastion or Echo, who are also omnic, you can enjoy special dialogue, so be sure to check them out as well.

The "Omnic Form" and the "Nemesis Form" are two different forms to master!

From here, we will explain how Lamattra fights. Ramatla is the first "Tempo Tank" in "Overwatch 2" and is a special hero who can use two forms and multiple skills.

First, the normal form is the "Omnic Form". In this form, his weapon is a large staff called the "Void Accelerator," and his main attack is a beam-like swarm of nanomachines. Although less powerful, it has a very long range and headshot detection, making it useful for chasing down damage or healers who have fled due to low health, or for destroying installations from a safe position.

The sub-attack is an ability that puts up a horizontal shield in front of it. It is a skill that should be used aggressively because of its high durability value. Like Reinhardt's shield and Sigma's barrier, it cannot prevent upward attacks, so be careful how you use it.

This is the "Omnic Form. This form is characterized by its monk-like appearance.

Next, let us introduce another form, the "Nemesis Form. To enter this form, one must use abilities while in the omnic form. In the Nemesis Form, the figure is transformed from a monk-like appearance to a horrifying figure with huge arms and legs, and its strength and movement speed are greatly increased! However, he reverts back to his omnic form after only 8 seconds, so you must time your actions with those of your friends to attack at once.

The weapon of choice in Nemesis form is the giant arm "Pamel. In its main attack, it swings its fist forward and fires an energy wave. This energy wave can penetrate shields and barriers and directly damage the opponent. Aggressively target tanks that are on the defensive due to low health or damage hidden behind shields to take advantage of opportunities to break the opponent's stance.

Sub-attacks are a complete change from shields that protect allies. Hanzo's "Dragon Slash Wave" is an action that uses his huge arms to assume a defensive posture, greatly reducing the damage he receives from attacks. The effect is tremendous, as it can also reduce the damage from powerful general attacks such as Hanzo's "Ryu-Geki-Wave" and Tall Bjorn's "Molten Core". However, its movement speed slows down while in use, and it can only protect against attacks from the front, so it must be used judiciously.

This is the Nemesis Form. The hideous appearance of this form suggests his anger toward mankind.

The Omnic Form and Nemesis Form share the same ability, "Greedy Vortex. This ability throws a "nanoball" forward, and a large circular zone is developed around the ground where it lands. Within this zone, movement speed is reduced and continuous damage occurs. The effect also greatly reduces the enemy's jumping ability, making it possible to drop characters with flying abilities, such as Fara, Mercy, and Echo, to the ground.

If the opponent hero is positioned too high, it will not fall, so it will be easier to catch it if you aim to hit it when its flight ability runs out of time!

Greedy Vortex can be used in a wide variety of ways. It is an offensive and defensive ability that can stop an opponent's attack if the zone is deployed at the right time when the opponent is on the offensive, or it can capture and defeat a hero with good escape performance, such as Genji or Winston, who are good at backstabbing, in the zone.

Last but not least is the Ultimate "Annihilation". This one goes into Nemesis form for 3 seconds and surrounds itself with energy bodies that automatically attack nearby enemies. The greatest advantage of this Ultimate is that the duration of Nemesis Form does not decrease as long as the energy body is damaging the enemy, and as long as the opponent is nearby, it can remain enhanced, allowing it to play a super-powerful role in group battles.

Heroes that go well with Lamattra & Heroes that don't go well with Lamattra

Here are some heroes that work well with Lamattra.

For healers, Lucio has powerful synergies such as enhanced movement speed with Speed Boost and added strength with Sound Barrier. Ana, who can buff with Nano Boost, is another example.

For damage, I recommend Reaper and May, who are strong tanks, or Genji and Tracer, who are highly mobile. If you focus more on team play than other tank heroes, you will have a better chance of winning.

Conversely, a hero that Lamattra has difficulty with is the road hog, which has self-healing and a powerful draw. Doomfist, with his defense skills and his ability to blow things up, would be a good choice.

Since Ramatullah is a short term combat type hero, it is not a good idea to fight one on one with the tank. When fighting, it is best to always be aware of the opposing tank and keep in mind the damage and healers you are trying to take down to be effective.

Too cool trailer with all the charm of Ramatla.

When I actually played with Ramatullah, I felt that he is a rather "advanced" tank hero, as he requires mastery of two forms, multiple abilities, and a fighting style suited to the situation around him.

However, there are many variations in fighting styles, and the feeling of accomplishment when one's strategy is successful is something that cannot be experienced with other heroes. It has been about a month since the addition of Ramatullah, but judging from the fact that the community is still excited about researching how to fight him, there is no doubt that he is a hero who will have more opportunities to play an active role in the future.

New map "Shambali Monastery! The popular maps from "Overwatch" are back, including "Shambali Monastery," "Shambali Temple," and "Overwatch 2!

Other notable features of "Overwatch 2" include a variety of well-crafted maps set in various regions of the world.

In Season 2, a new map, "Shambali Monastery," was added to coincide with the arrival of Ramatullah. This is the temple where Ramatullah and Zenyatta once trained, and where many omnicos who sought help after the Crisis were saved. In the game, the attacker's mission is to escort the payload through the city of Omnic, up the mountain path, and to the temple.

The map is also filled with little tidbits, such as the opening of Omnic's "repair shop"!

RIALTO" and "BLIZZARD WORLD," which were popular maps in the original "Overwatch," are back. RIALTO," where players fight in the streets of Italy, is centered around the Rialto Bridge in Venice, with historic cathedrals and beautiful churches that make you feel like you're traveling just by walking around.

Water buses cross the river, and gondolas allow you to ride on top (just don't fall into the river!)

The next stop, BLIZZARD WORLD, is a theme park based on the many classic games of Blizzard Entertainment, makers of Overwatch 2, and the map is filled with small tidbits from popular games such as Warcraft and StarCraft! It is the "most fun place on earth" for fans of Blizzard and its theme parks.

As a fan of Blizzard and theme parks, I was gut-punched to see the return of this map. I explored the map while also taking screenshots, and was as satisfied as if I had actually been to an amusement park.

The "SNAXRAMAS" restaurant, a play on the word "Naxxramas" and "Snack Bar," both of which appear in "World of Warcraft," will make you grin if you are a fan.

In addition, "HOLLYWOOD" and "WATCHPOINT: GIBRALTAR" will be removed from rotation during Season 2, following the addition of this map. It is highly likely that more maps will be added and that maps from the original "Overwatch" will return to the rotation in the future.

The Junker Queen has been transformed into Zeus! Greek Mythology" is the theme for the Season Battle Pass.

It is no exaggeration to say that one of the most appealing features of the "Overwatch" series is the wide variety of character skins and customization items.

In Season 1, the theme was "cyberpunk" and many items featured futuristic designs with neon lights, but in Season 2, the theme has changed to "Greek mythology" and players will receive skins that resemble the gods of Olympus as rewards.

Skins that suit each hero are now available, such as Lamattra's solemnly dressed "Poseidon" skin and Pharaoh's "Hades" skin, which features Cerberus decorations on the body. And the most eye-catching of all is the Junker Queen's "Zeus," a mixi-skin that can be awarded for obtaining the last of the Battle Pass.

With golden hair and fists, strong armor, and well-trained muscles, this skin is unforgettable once you see it. It also fits very well with the character of Junker Queen, who is a front-runner, and is the perfect skin for players who like to show off. Also, like Genji's "Cyber Demon," which was the final reward of Season 1, it is a mishmash skin and can be customized. The color variations, weapons, and armor decorations can be freely changed.

In addition to these skins, there are many other rewards such as Victory Poses, Highlight Intros, and weapon charms!

One reward that I particularly liked was the "Bug Hero" skin for Soldier 76. As soon as I saw this skin, I thought to myself, "This design and name, what if! I was reminded of a certain special effects hero. I was so impressed by the attention to detail and respect for Japanese tokusatsu heroes, despite the fact that it is a foreign game, that I couldn't help but transform (equip) it myself.

The "Bug Hero" is a reward that can be obtained by paying for the Premium Battle Pass, so if you are attracted by the design, click the purchase button right away.

In January, the limited-time mode "Battle for Olympus" will also be available! Keep your eyes on "Overwatch 2"!

Season 2 of "Overwatch 2" has added a wealth of content all at once, including the groundbreaking new hero "Ramatla," the addition of the beautiful "Shambali Monastery," and a Battle Pass with a variety of items you'll want to use.

The trailer also introduces the Battle Pass rewards and the charged skins that were not introduced in the previous season, so be sure to check it out.

The video also introduces the new game mode "Battle of Olympus," which will be available for a limited time. In the video, huge rocks appear from the Lord Hog's weapon and lightning flies around the Junker Queen, making the game mode truly "Battle of the Gods! This will definitely be a game mode worthy of "Battle of the Gods.

This mode is scheduled to take place from Friday, January 6 to Thursday, January 19, 2023; keep an eye on "Overwatch 2" more and more in 2023!
