Interview with Winter 2023 Anime "I'll Save 80,000 Gold Coins in Another World to Prepare for Old Age"! Rika Tachibana (Colette) and Kaori Maeda (Sabine) talk about the charm of the work and preparing for old age!

The TV anime "I will save 80,000 gold coins in another world to prepare for my old age" will start airing in January 2023. Mitsuha, a young girl who lost her parents and brother in an accident, is left all alone in the world, and a mysterious being gives her the ability to go back and forth between "this world" and "another world. Mitsuha then decides to save 80,000 gold coins (2 billion) for her old age by making full use of her "otherworldly transfer" ability.

Rika Tachibana plays Colette, an 8-year-old girl whom Mitsuha meets for the first time in another world. Kaori Maeda plays Sabine, the third princess of the Kingdom of Zeglaeus, who is Mitsuha's favorite.

Furthermore, Ms. Maeda will be in charge of the opening theme song, "Hikari no Coin ga Mashikata Hatahodo (The One Shown by the Shining Coin)," and will be making her debut as an artist, so each of them will be involved in the production in an important position.

We interviewed the two about the appeal of the work and its music.

Want some money? This is the anime for you!

ーWhat did you think of the original work and the script?

Tachibana: "I went to another world, but is it really okay if all I have to do is make money?" I was thinking, "I went to another world and all I want to do is make money, but it was really interesting (laughs). But when I was asked if I had any abilities that I needed, I thought that I would not choose the ability to learn languages. At that point, I thought that Mitsuha (CV. Rika Nagae), the main character, is a smart person who thinks ahead and makes decisions, and I definitely do not want to make her my enemy.

In fact, language ability is the most important thing in an otherworldly story, isn't it?

Tachibana: That's right. Mitsuha doesn't just earn money by working diligently; she uses her otherworldly transfer and language skills to earn money in every possible way, so I thought it was interesting and fascinating to see what kind of moves she would make next.

Maeda I thought it was very interesting that Mitsuha went to the other world and thought about various things there without making any compromises, and then she opened things up and went her own way. It is very interesting how he takes tools and ideas from the real world and converts them, or rather renews them, in another world, and does things that please everyone while making money in a clever way (laughs). Mitsuha is very smart!

The original story is also very fast-paced; he falls off a cliff, goes to another world, meets Colette there, and starts his journey from there. It develops quickly and has a good tempo, so I think you will really enjoy watching it!

By the way, do you learn anything from your work that you can use to make money? Do you learn anything like that?

Tachibana: I didn't know there was such a thing! I think so, but I don't think I can actually go and learn how to use a gun, for example, so I can only make money by selling and buying things. ......

Maeda That's really true! Mitsuha is able to take action immediately! Even if you think it would be nice to do something like this, I think there are only a limited number of people who can do it. Watching Mitsuha acquire his skills, I think this is the kind of person who will become a hero (laughs). (Laughs.) Although it is an otherworldly story, I feel as if I am watching a historical drama. I want to be able to live like this! I want to be able to live like this!

Tachibana: Mitsuha certainly has a shogun-like quality to her (laughs).

Maeda: I feel like a general (laughs).

Kaori Maeda, who plays Sabine

Q: Could you tell us about the character you play?

Tachibana: The character I play, Colette, is a kind girl whom Mitsuha first meets when she is transferred to another world, and she lives in a simple village. She lives in a simple village, gathering wild plants and living a warm life with her parents, but perhaps because she grew up in such a village, she has the strength to live in the wild and has a power that is unimaginable from her small body. So her powerful hugs are noteworthy!

Maeda She is cute but threatening (laughs).

Tachibana That's right! So I think the hugging scene is a highlight.

Q: What did you think of the otherworldly language?

Tachibana It was a lot of fun! Another World Language.

I see! I have heard that intonation and pronunciation are difficult in other productions.

Tachibana: For the time being, I tried to use what I thought was the best pronunciation, but there were not many retakes of the other-worldly language, and I am glad that it was accepted.

Q: Ms. Maeda, you play the role of Sabine, right?

Maeda: She is a princess, the third princess of the Zeglaius Kingdom. She is so cute that I wonder if there are princesses like her. But she is also childlike and curious. She is not only cute, but also has a sense of mockery and devilishness, and I felt that this is what a princess who inspires others is like.

I wanted to do something for her! I wanted to do something for her! However, the scene with Mitsuha and her appearance will come a little later, so I hope you can look forward to it.

Q: Mr. Maeda, you also sang the opening theme song, "The One the Glowing Coin Points To," didn't you?

Maeda: Yes, I am. I am pleased to announce that I am making my debut as an artist and will be singing the theme song for this film. Thank you very much. Singing was the starting point for me, and it is something I have always wanted to do as an expression.

Being able to sing the opening theme song of an anime for my debut timing and being able to be involved in the production made me realize that my dreams really do come true. I also read the original story before singing the song, so I am looking forward to seeing how the opening image will turn out.

Q: This song makes you feel that your dream will come true, doesn't it?

Maeda: But it is not just a song about a dream. The song tells us that we can only grasp our dreams through such efforts, which is what Mitsuha is saying in the song. I would be happy if the song conveys this. Of course, I think the song has become a song that links to me as well.

Tachibana I am looking forward to it!

Maeda I am also very excited.

Q: By the way, is there anything you are preparing for your old age?

Maeda Out of the blue? (laughs) I don't know, I don't have anything at all!

Tachibana You are not that old yet, are you?

Maeda I am living desperately in the present (laughs). But I have a dream. I want to keep a cat while sipping tea on the porch!

Tachibana I see (laughs). I am not preparing for old age, but I would like to experience various things. Even if it's just a bit of a lark, I'm going to experience a lot of things and become a grandmother.

Maeda Lovely!

Q: Lastly, do you have a message for those who are looking forward to the anime?

Tachibana: Money is something you want, isn't it? I recommend this anime for you (laughs).

(Laughs) But it is not just about making money. It is also about finding inspiration to solve problems. And the tempo is very good, so I think you will feel refreshed even if you watch it with an empty head. Please watch it. I look forward to seeing it!

Maeda: This film gives me a lot of courage. Even if you go to a different world or an unknown place, if you have a spirit of enjoyment and inquisitiveness like Mitsuha, and if you always remember to move forward with ideas, you can accomplish anything. I sometimes think how hard it is to earn money and how hard it is to work, but when I was a child, I had a dream of what I wanted to be in the future! I think that this work is a kind of work that takes you back to that kind of initial feeling. I think that by thinking freely, infinite possibilities open up!

And on a personal note, I am making my debut as an artist and am also in charge of the opening theme song, so this is a truly important work for me. I would be very happy if you could support this project.
