Director Yoshiyuki Tomino's legendary anime "Densetsu Kyojin Ideon" began airing on TV in 1980. At that time, Aoshima Bunka Kyozai Co. released many kits in various scales, and now, 40 years later, the company has released a new kit.

The "Ideon," the hero mecha of this work, is a mysterious being carrying the infinite power of "Ide," a legacy left behind by the 6th civilization, an alien race. Young earthlings aboard the Solo Ship, a spaceship excavated from the same ruins, are chased by the Buff Clan, an alien race that fears the power of the Ideon, and run away through space.

What was the technology of the Sixth Civilization? In fact, Ideon is a character with deep pockets that can accept a wide variety of arrangements, projecting the various technologies of the Sixth Civilization as people envision them.

I feel that this "1/450 Legendary Giant God Ideon" is one such proposal.

First of all, the size of this package is very large, and the illustration is wonderful. When I saw the package in the store, I couldn't help but think, "Wow!　It's huge! I'm sure you'll exclaim "Wow!

Many of the parts are also large in size, and there are no difficult assembly processes, so you can proceed with your work smoothly.

Ideon enthusiasts will be able to easily guess which parts belong to which parts, even with the runners in place.

Despite the high level of detail, the division of parts is designed not to be that detailed.

Here is the completed Ideon!　The legs seemed to be slightly longer and larger than the balance of the human body, perhaps to create a sense of enormity as seen from below.

The color separation can be reproduced without stickers or painting, just assembling it straight. Moreover, no glue is required. Poly parts are used for the joints, making them easy to move. If this much color separation has been achieved, you can save yourself the trouble of painting, and spend that time on weathering, smearing, etc., to create a finished product that reflects your individuality!

The upper arms are covered with crawler tracks, but the Ideon is an action-oriented kit that omits the separation and deformation of the upper arms. However, with this detail, one can only imagine what it would look like if it were to separate into its various mechanical parts.

The shoulder shape, which is the characteristic silhouette of the Ideon, has been arranged in detail, but the shape of the head and chest are truly "Ideon"! Clear parts are used for each part.

Even the back parts, which have a simple shape, have been arranged with details. The elbow joints also have mechanical details.

The upper surface of the chest is the windshield part of the B-mech, so many clear parts have been placed.

The slits on the sides also have details arranged in a way that does not destroy the image.

The marks of ides on each part are, of course, clear parts. The fists are interchangeable between "flat hand" and "clenched hand" type.

The backs of the knees also have mechanical details as well as the elbow joints. It would be nice to paint this area in detail to further enhance the mech-like appearance.

The design of the legs has been drastically rearranged. The gray areas on the shins and the inner sides of the legs were not included in the anime version, but the Aoshima Online Shop Limited Edition included bonus runners to bring the color scheme closer to the anime version. The white protrusions on the knees are also small parts, but they are the most eye-catching points of this arrangement. The axe-like shaped parts on the toes are also a feature of the Ideon. Incidentally, the "1/810 Ideon" was displayed at the "Yoshiyuki Tomino's World Exhibition" in Aomori. We also had several other finished mecha on display, but I wonder if any of our readers had a chance to see them.

Now, here comes the usual "extra effort," and when it comes to Ideon, the word "excavation" is always associated with it. So, this time too, we will try to easily express dirt and sand.

This time, I sprayed the entire body with Kreos matte topcoat spray, and then applied foundation. The matte finish makes the surface rougher than the plastic, which makes it easier to apply the weathering. Since the Ideon is huge and the kit itself is huge, I made it as dirty as I could.

Although it is easy to apply weathering with foundation, the drawback is that the colors become monotonous. Once you get used to it, it is recommended to try various weathering items available from various hobby manufacturers.

Again, I was conscious of weathering so that the dirt would ride on every edge. Even if a little chunk of foundation is buried in the detail, I decided to allow some because it was "unearthed".

The edges of the axe-like parts of the toes could have been drybrushed with silver.

The ankle parts have less detail than the rest of the body, so I balanced it out by applying more weathering. I could have done a little more here.

The wave guiding gun was also weathered as well as the Ideon.

Since it was often used in space, it would have been nice to give it a different weathering.

Anyway, this kit is well color-coded, so you can spend more time on the next stage of modification without painting. In fact, some people may not be able to do extensive painting due to their living environment. It is precisely such people who should try the next step of "putting in the work," which is to go beyond painting.

There was a time when I thought that kits made by long-established model manufacturers were difficult to build, but this Ideon is definitely an easy kit to build.
