The tips of the bristles are beautifully aligned and of the flat brush type. The bristles are made of specially processed high-quality nylon (PBT), so even if the bristles are bent at the base, they can be restored to their original state with hot water at 90°C or higher!

Actual use!

To check the application, we experimented with a plastic board with convex molds that easily form bubbles and a 1/35 soldier figure coated with water-based surfacer (white)! Incidentally, the left half of the plastic plate was painted with the Daiso gel nail brush introduced earlier to compare the difference.

*Because this was an experiment, the paint was applied roughly without dilution. When actually finishing the work, use a solvent and apply thin layers of paint to get beautiful colors.

First, the plastic board. The left side, painted with a gel nail brush, dried out with bubbles left in some places, but the right side, painted with a foam dab brush, is not bubbling!

Conclusion: The Foam Brush has the better tip. Gel nail brushes may be suitable for use as dry brushes, taking advantage of their jagged tips, rather than for painting neatly.

Next, a 1/35 scale soldier figure.

Even the uneven areas where bubbles tend to form could be painted cleanly! The short handle of the foam dart brush makes it easy to use, and it is light and stress-free, making it perfect for basic painting of mini-figures.

■About the paints

By the way, the paint used this time was a water-based acrylic "Aqueous Hobby Color" Daytona Green (glossy). Water-based Hobby Color is inexpensive and comes in a wide variety of colors, making it a recommended paint for both brush painting and airbrushing.

Note that although water-based acrylic paints and water-based paints are similar, they are different types. The former are well-known Tamiya acrylics and water-based hobby colors, and require a special solvent for dilution (they cannot be painted well if diluted with water). The latter are well-known water-based acrylics and Falejo, which can be diluted with water and painted (a dedicated solvent can also be used). What they have in common is that they are both "washable with water before drying" and have "little irritating odor.

Incidentally, lacquer-based paint has the advantage of a stronger coating film and enamel-based paint has the advantage of less unevenness, but both have a strong pungent odor and cannot be used with water. For first-time painters, water-based acrylics and water-based paints, which can be easily cleaned with water, are recommended!
