Season 2 will open on December 7, 2022, with the introduction of new heroes such as Ramatla. The development team has been reflecting on Season 2 in preparation for the start of Season 3, based on feedback from players received over the past few months.

In this article, the team will share what they are currently working on, their thoughts on long-term changes, and where they see the game going in the future.

■Downward revision of Lamattra's "Anaylation" from Season 3.
When Lamattra was first introduced, the development team discussed the issues based on feedback from players, including what the community's first impressions of the abilities were, whether the abilities were easy to use, and which abilities and moments resonated with the community.

In Season 3, the timer for "annihilation" was changed. The timer, which previously stopped completely while an enemy was in range, will now slowly decrease and will be capped at 20 seconds.

These changes will allow for more counterplay, eliminating many of the extreme uses of "annihilation" while keeping it a powerful and impactful ability.

■Review of Season 2 Events and Beyond Season 3 and Beyond
Our goal with Overwatch 2 was to host more frequent in-game events and unique, limited-time-only games and modes. Based on your feedback, we will improve and revive many events in the future.

The development team hopes to offer a variety of ways to play the game and experience new modes and events, while at the same time taking on more aggressive and creative challenges in these limited-time games and modes.

■Future updates and outlook
The development team aims to add and improve systems that will stay close to the players throughout the matches and seasons. Among them, the team is considering bringing back the "On Fire" system, which highlights particularly impressive performances during a match.

A progress system for each hero is also being envisioned, although it is still in the early stages. The goal is to create a system that visualizes the effort put in by players to play each hero and master its abilities.
